1 dies, 3 hurt as 2 trucks collide

Kasaragod, Oct 16: A man was killed and three others sustained injuries in a head-on collision involving two trucks near Kumbla on Sunday.

The accident occurred around 7.30 am as a container truck collided with the other truck that was proceeding towards Mangaluru to transport fish to Kerala.

Biju, 47, a native Cherthala in Alappuzha, who was driving the truck carrying fish, died on the spot while his fellow truck crew Babu,38, a resident of Muhamma in Alappuzha, sustained head injuries, police sources here said.

The container truck was also proceeding to Kerala and two people in it, hailing from Uttar Pradesh, sustained minor injuries and were being treated at a Mangaluru hospital.

The two trucks capsized on either sides of the busy national highway No. 66 north of Kumbla bridge. There were vehicular snarls in the area of the accident for a while.

Mangaluru, July 14: Melkar  Women's PU college has achieved excellent pass percentage in II PUC examinations, the results of which were announced today.

As many as 140 students of the college had appeared for second PU board exam 2020 this year. The college secured 95% results in the current academic year.

Among them 24 students passed with distinction and 94 with with first class marks.

Fathima Nisha (558 in Arts),

Zaithunnisa (561 in commerce) and Zainaba ifrath (545 in science) are the toppers of respective sections in the college.

Tumakuru, Jun 20: An SSLC student of Siddaganga Mutt here was admitted to the isolation ward of the district hospital on Saturday after he showed Covid-19 symptoms.

Health officials said that the student, a native of the Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh, had returned to the Mutt via Raichur on June 15 for writing the SSLC examination scheduled to begin on June 25.

After he was admitted to the hospital the Health Department Officials kept three of his roommates under quarantine. Throat swab sample of the student has also been sent for testing.

Mangaluru, May. 21: The Bearys Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI Mangaluru) is held the Eid Kits distribution program on Wednesday, 27th day of Ramadan (20.05.2020) at BCCI office in Kankanady, Mangaluru. 

It distributed around 250 kits including some cash amount to the needy

BCCI president Mr S. M. Rasheed Haji, vice president Mr. Abdul Rauf Puthige, Administrative Secretary Mr. Nissar F. Mohammed, and Executive Members  Mr. Mumtaz Ali B.M.,
