UAE: After the rip-roaring success of the first season of 10 PL, Petromann Events today announced even bigger plans for Season 2. The second season will be staged in October this year with more teams, especially from the subcontinent.10pl

In the first year the tournament was immensely popular in the Indian subcontinent and in the GCC nations. Last year the tournament was staged at the historic Sharjah Cricket Stadium, thanks to the support of Mr Waleed Bukhatir.

The tournament was well supported by: Danube, Rehmaniya & Sons , Pacific Ventures , Lama tours , Tools Design , Delhi Darbar, while the teams were kitted by Shiv Naresh.

The nature of the competition and the structure of the tournament even caught the attention of the brand ambassador Virender Sehwag. A dasher in his days, Sehwag like most from the subcontinent had started his life as a tennis ball cricketer.

In the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) too we saw a number of players like Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Kedar Jadhav, Basil Thampi amongst a whole host of others who started their careers playing tennis ball cricket. Even elsewhere in Pakistan the likes of Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and a host of other legends have cut their teeth playing cricket in the by lanes of their country.

No wonder then that last year of the 16 teams in the fray, 14 were from overseas.

This year for the second edition of 10 PL, apart from the sides that participated last year, the following sides have been confirmed:

• INTELLICOM SOLUTIONS - BENGALURU
• SARANG SUPER RAPTORS - MUMBAI
• DELHI RISING STARS - DELHI
• SUPER FASHION SRI LANKA -
• SAUDI KENT KOKAN 11 - SAUDI ARABIA
• INDO RIDERS - SAUDI ARABIA

"There are some grand plans for the second season. We at Petromann Events are excited about the tournament this year. We are hoping to come back in a bigger way than last year. The associations that we have built will continue to aid us in our plans. In particular all the sponsors and partners that were associated with us will benefit us in a big way," said Abdul Latif Khan, promoter, Petromann Events.

Due to the overwhelming demand this year the 20 teams have been divided into four groups of five each.

An interesting feature like last year will be the presence of players who have represented their country at Test, ODI and T20I level.

Last year former Pakistan wicketkeeper ZulqarnainHaider featured in the competition. This year former Sri Lanka internationals Chamara Silva and ThilanThushara will be playing for Super Fashion, Sri Lanka.

This year Petromann Events has tied up with Think Big Entertainment to promote and execute the tournament in an even bigger way. In coming days announcement about a brand ambassador for the second edition is also going to be made.

A total cash prize of DHS 250,000 will be at stake during the tournament. The tournament will be streamed live on YouTube and also on the official website: www.10pl.net
