100 litres of Indian Made Foreign Liquor seized, two arrested

Foreign LiquorKasaragod, Aug 21: The police late on Tuesday seized more than hundred litres of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) at Muliyar, near here, while being smuggled in a car into the State ahead of the Onam festivities. Two persons were arrested in connection with the incident.

A team of shadow police, deputed by the Superintendent of Police, seized 135 IMFL bottles of 750 ml capacity in 11 boxes concealed under the seat of a car and arrested Ansees, 27, hailing from Thrissur, and Naveen Shetti, 24, a resident of Kuloor Majjar, near Manjeshwaram.

Based on a tip-off that illicit liquor was being smuggled from Goa through porous Karnataka border roads, the police stepped up vigil, sources said. During a check, the police signalled a speeding car to stop. However, the vehicle sped away. The police gave a hot chase and intercepted the car near Muliyar and detained the occupants.

Belagavi, Jan 16: Six Poachers were arrested in two different cases at Gollahalli forest range in Kittur section in the district on Thursday.

The arrested were identified as Bharmesh alias Bharmappa Hanumant Bhajantri, Mallesh Hanumant Bhajantri residents of Budanakatti in Bailahongal Taluk.

Another alleged accused Yuvraj Basappa Bhajantri managed to escape.

Tumakuru, Jun 20: An SSLC student of Siddaganga Mutt here was admitted to the isolation ward of the district hospital on Saturday after he showed Covid-19 symptoms.

Health officials said that the student, a native of the Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh, had returned to the Mutt via Raichur on June 15 for writing the SSLC examination scheduled to begin on June 25.

After he was admitted to the hospital the Health Department Officials kept three of his roommates under quarantine. Throat swab sample of the student has also been sent for testing.

Bengaluru, April 3: Central Crime Branch (CCB) Bengaluru has arrested two persons for allegedly possessing illicit liquor.

The probe team also allegedly seized bottles worth Rs 1.25 lakhs from their possession on Thursday.

A case has been registered against the accused and investigation into the matter is underway, Sandeep Patil, Joint Commissioner of Police informed news agency.
