11 students from Mangaluru among 35 selected in KRMO-2017

Mangaluru, Dec 11: As many as 11 students from Centre for Advanced Learning (CFAL), Mangaluru, have been selected in the prestigious Karnataka Regional Mathematics Olympiad (KRMO 2017). They are among the 35 students selected from across Karnataka.

Mathematical Olympiad is one of the most prestigious examinations conducted by the Government of India and all selected students qualify for INMO (Indian National Mathematical Olympiad) which leads to International MathematicalOlympiad (IMO).

First stage of the exam (Pre- RMO also known as PRMO) was held on Aug 20, 2017 at different centres all over India. A total of 623 students from Karnataka were selected for the Second stage exam. KRMO 2017 was held on October 8th, 2017 and 35 students have been now selected from Karnataka for the Third stage exam (Indian National Mathematical Olympiad – also known as INMO).

In 2016-17, CFAL student Aditya Prakash, had been selected for the 58th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) held in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.

After a gap of 20 years, a student from Karnataka was representing India at the International Math Olympiad. It was a big achievement for Karnataka. Along with outstanding faculty, Aditya Prakash mentors and guides students preparing for the Olympiads at CFAL. 

The International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) is the largest, oldest and more prestigious mathematics Olympiad for students. While many private entities conduct different Olympiads, there is only one Olympiad that is recognised by the government and which is internationally recognised. (Like the Olympics for sports)

The Mathematics Olympiad Program in India is organized by the HomiBhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) on behalf of the National Board of Higher Mathematics (NBHM) of the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE).

To select the Indian team for International Mathematical Olympiad(IMO), 30 students selected from INMO attend a training camp in Mumbai.Out of these a team of 5-6 students will represent India at the International Mathematical Olympiads (IMO) 2018 which will be held in Romania in July 2018.

The actor went emotional after his name was announced by Sudeep as the winner. He thanked the host, his family and friends and the viewers as well for continuous support.

During his stay in the house, the actor had the privilege to become the captain of the house twice. He is also the only candidate who has earned 'Kicchana Chappale' (applaud of appraisal) the maximum number of times.

Shine has been in the headlines for his equation with other housemates. His growing friendship with Deepika Das has been creating a lot of buzz ever since the launch of the show. Shine has always shown interest in Deepika. He has always admired Deepika and was seen complimenting her style statements.

Shine Shetty's journey inside the Bigg Boss house is worth a mention. From showcasing his talents to giving his best shot in the tasks and activities, the actor was always on the forefront.

Bigg Boss Kannada 7 kick-started on October 13th 2019 with Kiccha Sudeepa continued to host the show. The show, which returned to the small screen with 'only-celeb' format consisted of 18 primary contestants, who entered the house during the grand premiere of the season.

Within a short span, two wild card entrants made a surprise entry into the house. The show was surely a roller coaster ride with unexpected twists and entertained the viewers to the fullest.

Mangaluru, May 15: In a shocking development, five residents of Udupi district, who recently came from United Arab Emirates today tested positive for covid-19.

As many as 49 passengers among over 175 repatriates who were brought from Dubai to Mangaluru International Airport on May 12 were from Udupi district.

Hence they were quarantined in Udupi district and their throat swabs were sent for testing on the same day. Today, five of them obtained positive report. They were today shifted to TMA Pai covid-hospital from their hotel rooms.

Lucknow, Feb 24: The Uttar Pradesh Sunni Central Waqf Board on Monday accepted the five acres of land provided for construction of the mosque in Ayodhya.

The Board also decided to form a trust to oversee the construction of the mosque.

The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by the Board's Chairman Zufar Faruqui.

Apart from this, the trust will also construct a charitable hospital, public library and a centre showcasing the heritage of Indo-Islamic civilisation which will also serve as a research and study centre for the same, according to a press release by the board.

The appointment of members to the trust will be announced following its creation, the release added.

The Supreme Court had on November 9 last year directed the Central government to hand over the disputed site at Ayodhya for the construction of a temple and set up a trust for the same.

The apex court had further directed the government to allocate an alternative five acres of land at a prominent location in Ayodhya for the construction of a mosque to the Sunni Waqf Board.
