14-yr-old Muslim boy, 15-yr-old Hindu girl fall in love; her elders kill him, bury in backyard

Muzaffarnagar, Jul 22: Police have arrested three persons of a Hindu family for killing their 14-year-old Muslim neighbour and burying him in the backyard of their house after a 15-year-old female member of their family fell in love with him, here in Uttar Pradesh.

lover1In fact the Hindu and Muslim families had been living as neighbours for two decades, sharing a single wall that separated their houses. When the Muzaffarnagar riots broke out, the violence left their bond untouched.

On Thursday, in what sent shock waves through Muzaffarnagar, the police dug out the body of Irshad, the school-going teenager, from the compound of the Sainis. According to police the family members of the girl kidnapped the boy, killed and buried him quietly. Two brothers of the girl and an uncle have been arrested in connection with the case.

Shakeel Ahmad had filed a missing person report at Jansath police station on Tuesday after his son didn't return home even by late evening. The boy had never done that before. But it took investigators little time to piece the sordid puzzle together. Somebody had seen Irshad and the girl walking together a few days back. After that it didn't take cops long to follow clues that led to the Sainis' backyard.

"We felt something was fishy when the boy's call detail report (CDR) revealed that he had been in constant touch with one specific person. Interestingly, both sim cards were registered in Irshad's name, which means the youth had given that number to the girl. Further investigations revealed that it was a girl in the neighbourhood with whom he was communicating," said SSP Deepak Kumar.

"Questioning of the brothers of the girl confirmed that the boy was strangulated soon after he was abducted on Monday night. His body was hidden in a shallow pit in a plot that belonged to the uncle of the girl. We recovered the body and have arrested Pawan and Mohan Saini, the brothers, along with the uncle."

Ahmad, still to recover from the loss of his son, said, "These people shared the wall of our house. They were our neighbours. They could have brought the matter to us and we would have reprimanded our son. He didn't deserve this fate. He was just a little boy."

Not taking any chances as the incident happened in Kawal, the village many regard as the epicenter of the Muzaffarnagar riots of 2103 that left 63 dead and more than 50,000 homeless, the district administration rushed a contingent of PAC and police force from five stations to the area that's classified as hyper-sensitive.

As news of the murder spread on Thursday morning, tension began building up, forcing IG (Meerut zone) Sujeet Pandey to promptly order deployment of additional force in Kawal. The situation, though simmering with tension, is under control. "It was a race against time," SSP Kumar said. "We couldn't have waited for long as things could have gone out of control, what with the reputation of Kawal."

Jamshed Ahmad, pradhan of Kawal, said, "We still haven't got over what happened here three years ago. This was uncalled for. We have to do everything in our power not to let things go wrong again."

Bengaluru, Feb 25: A smooth-talking ‘swamiji’ has come under police radar after a widow lodged a complaint stating he cheated her of over Rs 27 crore and three kgs of gold between 2016 and 2019.

The woman, Geetha of Ramamurthynagar, was staying with her three sons after her husband, a landlord, died in 2009. Her family owned several sites in Tavarekere and other parts of the city, apart from a farm near Bethamangala in Kolar district.

Geetha, who had got into property disputes with her relatives, said she was introduced to the accused, Nagaraj C of Bangarapet, who claimed to possess powers to ward off evil spirits, by one of her farm labourers. “I was assured that all my problems would be solved. He came to my house and claimed he had been sent by god and would find solutions to all my problems,” she stated.

Nagaraj allegedly pretended to be possessed by spirits and directed her to give him gold bars. Geetha ended up giving three kgs of gold in the process. Later, he began directing her to sell a few properties stating these were the root cause of her problems. “I sold many properties and pledged a few residential sites. He took Rs 22.5 crore that came from selling properties, apart from Rs 5 crore cash from my husband’s savings,” she stated.

She said Nagaraj took the money from her on the promise of buying alternative properties. “When I demanded he return all my money, he threatened to kill me and my kids using evil spirits,” she alleged.

Police have registered a case of cheating, criminal conspiracy, criminal intimidation under various IPC sections and Karnataka Prevention and Eradication of Inhuman Evil Practices and Black Magic Bill, 2017, against Nagaraj and others.

New Delhi, Mar 2: The bloodthirsty arsonists allegedly hired by pro-CAA politicians in the capital of India to target Muslims, did not spare even the house of a Muslim leader of BJP.

Akhtar Raza, the BJP’s minority cell vice-president for the Delhi Northeast district, is now not in a position to share his pain with anyone.

Even the police hadn’t come to his rescue, when the mob raising “Jai Sri Ram” slogans burnt down his house at Bhagirathi Vihar Nalla Road in northeast Delhi last week.

“They were chanting slogans. Around 7pm, they started throwing stones at us. I called for police help. But the police asked me to leave. We managed to flee before they burnt my house and destroyed everything,” Raza, who returned today to witness the destruction, told media persons.

“Those who attacked us were not locals. They were outsiders. They managed to identify and burn down all the 19 houses belonging to Muslims in this lane,” Raza said.

Apart from all the belongings in the house of Raza, the arsonists also have burnt down six vehicles belonging to his family.

Raza is sad that no one from BJP contacted him after the violence even though he has been serving the party and promoting its ideology for past five years. “No party leader contacted me. There was no phone call. There was no relief or special treatment or anything,” Raza said.

Interestingly, Raza is still indentifies himself as a BJP leader. “I belonged to BJP. I may continue in the party,” he said.

The locality remained tense on Sunday too. On Monday, several groups distributed relief materials among people who had queued up to collect them. In front of Raza’s house is a lane from which several bodies of innocent Muslims have been recovered.
