Local resident Mohammad Fazal (38), who managed to rescue one of the fishermen, lost his life in his bid to save another fisherman.

There were three fishermen on-board the ill-fated boat. They are Manex (45), Kumaran (30) and Chandan, all three fishermen from Tamil Nadu.

During its fishing expedition on Saturday afternoon the boat began to sink near a mouth of estuary due to turbulent weather. The helpless fishermen started screaming for help.

Fazal, a resident of Kotepura in Ullal, who witnessed this tragedy, jumped into see and with the help of his friend Rameez managed to rescue Manex.

Fazal once again jumped into see to help the other fishermen. However, his head hit a rock in the sea and he breathed his last at a hospital. Fazal was known in Ullal area as a Good Samaritan.

Meanwhile, Kumaran was saved by the Coast Guard through a helicopter. Chandan is still missing and he is feared dead. The Coast Guard personnel have continued search operation.

Dear Manoj,
The intention of specifying the rescuer as MUSLIM, is just to show dot those ill minded people who have negative image on all Muslims.

This is the logic behind it. Everybody should know though the choice of religion is their own will/ business. However maintaining harmony with other religion has no bound and no barrier.

Unfortunately religion has been identified in the society as TITLE of Criminals OR Innocents.
We are way behind KERALITES as they live together peacefully with cooperation, in harmony, keeping the religion as their own business.
Religion never says to severe the relation with others.
Let us make our living style also same as Keralites or better than them.
May God Help

Mangaluru, Apr 13: Struck by the boredom of lockdown imposed to curb the spread of coronavirus, a 17-year old was caught on Sunday trying to sneak his friend out of his apartment complex by stuffing him inside a suitcase, police said.

"A minor, aged 17-years-old, a resident of Orchid Apartment, Balmatta invited his friend, a resident of Motisham Apartment, Pandeshwar to stay with him on April 11, Saturday," said PS Harsha, the Commissioner of Police, Mangaluru.

The friend wanted to return back to his apartment in Pandeshwar the next day but due to strict security put in place, he got inside a large trolley suitcase. Security guards at the apartment, however, got suspicious when they noticed the wobbling of the suitcase that was being wheeled to the gate.

Based on the suspicions, security personnel alerted the residents of the building and opened the suitcase from which they were shocked to find the boy's friend stepping out. Police were later called in.

A case has been registered against the two minors at the East Police station, police said adding that the duo will be produced before the Juvenile Justice Board.

Bengaluru, Feb 6: A flower vendor from Channapatna town in Karnataka got a shock of his life when he found a credit of Rs 30 crore in his wife's bank account. This happened when Syed Malik Burhan was struggling to meet expenses for a medical emergency in the family.

According to reports, bank officials knocked on his doors on December 2 asking him to explain how the money came to his account.

"On December 2, they came searching our house. They only said a huge amount has been deposited in my wife's (Rehana) account and then asked me to come to the Bank along with my wife carrying Aadhaar card," Mr Burhan said.

He claimed that the Bank staff sought to exert pressure on him to sign on a document but he refused. Mr Burhan recalled that he had purchased a saree through an online portal following which he received a call seeking his bank details which, he was told, were needed as he had won a car.

"Since then, we are running from pillars to post to find out how the money came to our account. We had only Rs 60 but suddenly such huge money came, which we are unable to understand," said Mr Burhan.

Mr Burhan said he had lodged a complaint with the Income Tax department, which he claimed was not keen on investigating it initially. Based on his complaint, the Channapatna town police in Ramanagara district registered a case of forgery and impersonation under the IPC besides the Information Technology Act for cheating and impersonation on January nine.

According to police, there were many financial transactions, which Mr Burhan may be unaware of. "We are trying to find out what these transactions mean. We will arrest whoever is behind it. We will not spare them," said a police officer in Channapatna.
