Mangaluru, Jul 15: Sleuths of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) have seized 2.5-kgs of gold from two employees of Spice Jet at Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) at Kenjar here on Friday.
This, DRI sources say, is one of the largest seizures of gold at MIA in the recent past. The value of the gold seized, sources state is around Rs 70 lakh and was seized from the airline employees when they arrived here from Dubai via Mumbai.
The DRI officials refused to divulge further details of the case, including names of the accused airline staff asserting that the procedure was still not complete.
"We will come out with full details including the modus operandi of the case and other details of the case tomorrow," a DRI official, not willing to be named for he is not authorised to speak to the media, said. The official however confirmed the quantity of gold seized from the accused.
