Jan 23: US president Barack Obama on Friday gave a clarion call to fight against terrorism and said safe havens within Pakistan was not acceptable.
"I've made it clear that even as the United States works with Pakistan to meet the threat of terrorism, safe havens within Pakistan are not acceptable," US president said in an interview to India Today.
He also observed that Indians and Americans are united against fighting terrorism as both the countries have suffered in the hands of extremists.
"Indians were tragically killed on 9/11, as were Americans on 26/11," he said. "Those behind the Mumbai terrorist attack must face justice."
Hafiz Saeed, chief of banned terror-organization and 26/11 mastermind, has been walking scot-free in Pakistan. The US has announced a $10 million bounty on him.
Meanwhile, another mastermind of 2008 Mumbai attacks Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi managed to secure bail from an anti-terror court in Islamabad. However, the Pakistan government has kept him under detention owing to the external pressure.
