Dr. B.R. Shetty, CEO of NMC and UAE Exchange will be inaugurating this event on July 2.

Prominent companies that participated in the last version of Alva's Pragati-2015 include Oracle, EY, IBM, TCS, Amazon, Biocon, Adani group, Titan, ITC, Taj Group, ICICI Bank, Wipro, TVS, AllCargo, Mphasis, Standard Chartered Bank, Axis Bank, MRG group, Kirloskar Electric, Idea Cellular, etc.

Hospitality and logistics of all corporate will be hosted and taken care of by AEF. Alva's Pragati is open not only for the students of AEF but also open to the student aspirants across the country.

Mr Alva said that AEF has been and is committed to the cause of creating employment opportunities for the rural youth that go unnoticed as they have limited access to employment markets. Year by year we have upgraded this platform to make it more beneficial to the candidates and companies.

Alva's Pragati started with 38 companies participating in its first edition. Last year's Alva's Pragati witnessed the participation of 272 companies and over 18,000 job aspirants with more than 5,525 offers rolled out. Throughout this year we have conducted 106 exclusive and pool campus drives and 1043 students have got selected.

More representation of companies this year from sectors such as Manufacturing, IT, ITeS, Telecom, BFSi, Sales & Retail, Pharma, Hospitality, Healthcare, Education & NGO, and Defence.

The main objective of conducting this placement drive is to create opportunities by bringing together jobs and the young talent (aspirants) of the rural places. Most of these regions lack both opportunities and information about job avenues. This platform was primarily created for this purpose 7 years back.

After an intensified and dedicated organizing of the Udyoga melas' and Alva's Pragati we have understood the following:

1. Extensive opportunity for graduates across streams: There are a huge number of opportunities across sectors for graduates from various streams. Companies from sectors like Telecom, IT, Banking, Sales and Marketing etc would be hiring graduates from all streams.

2. Hotel management students should make use of this opportunity: Vast opportunities are available for Hotel Management graduates from many premier and star rated hotels, but very less number of candidates with hotel management qualification attend this drive. Request all hotel management graduates to make the best use of the offers in Alva's Pragati.

3. Good opportunities await nursing graduates: A good range of opportunities awaits nursing graduates from reputed hospitals in India and Middle-east countries. So we request all nursing graduates to attend Pragati in large numbers.

4. MLT candidates have great opportunity: Candidates with MLT qualifications are highly sought after, so candidates with this qualification should come to Pragati for leveraging this opportunity.

5. ITI/Diploma students are in high demand: ITI/Diploma candidates are in high demand with all manufacturing companies including those from the Automobile sector.

6. This year there are more opportunities available for engineering graduates in sectors like Manufacturing and IT.

Shivamogga, Feb 1: A three-year-old girl who fell out of a moving vehicle had a miraculous escape in Agumbe Ghat section in Teerthahalli taluk of Shivamogga district of Karnataka.

The incident took place in the early hours of Friday when 12 members from three different families were returning from a tour of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The girl was reunited with her family after 30 minutes of high drama.

The child, identified as Anavi, is believed to have fallen from the vehicle as it negotiated hairpin bends on the Agumbe Ghat road, 350km from Bengaluru. The child's parents, Binu and Lincy, from NR Pura in Chikkamagaluru district, and other family members reportedly dozed off and did not realize the child had fallen off the vehicle until they covered a distance of about 20km.

One of the family members noticed that child was missing from the seat next to the door. When the driver realized the door latch had given way, they suspected the child could have slipped out of the vehicle.

Then the family started searching along the road and learnt from a forest guard at the Agumbe checkpost that a missing child was found and it had been handed over to Agumbe police station.

An advocate who identified himself as Vinay spotted the girl child as he passed the deserted stretch minutes after the vehicle left and picked her up and handed her over to Agumbe police.

The child sustained minor injuries in the fall. She was provided medical treatment before she was handed over to the parents.

Sources said it wasn't known how the vehicle door opened. One theory is that the girl could have accidentally unlocked the door while clutching the latch in the bumpy ride on the ghat. Police did not file any complaint.

Similar incident

This incident is almost a rerun of a Kerala incident in which a one-year-old baby fell off a moving jeep and was reunited with its mother hours later in September 2019 in Idukki district.

The baby had slipped off the mother's arms while she dozed off in the vehicle. CCTV footage showed the baby, after falling on the road, crawling towards a lit-up area close by, which turned out to be a forest checkpost. Family realised child was missing after 20km.

Mangaluru, June 14: Private schools under the aegis of Association of English Medium Schools in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi urged the State government to reimburse the arrears of the fee related to admission of students under the Right to Education (RTE) Act.

Speaking to newsmen here on Sunday association president Y. Mohammed Beary said the State government has not cleared the arrears for the last two years. “The 400 private schools in two districts have to get around Rs 2 crore,” he said and added that the overall arrears that the government has to pay to schools in the State are around Rs1,200 crore.

Mr. Beary said arrears have made the school managements like his, who collect annual fees of about Rs 20,000 from a student, hard to function. Due to lockdown from March the schools could not conduct annual examinations and hence they could not collect pending fees from parents.
