50,000 Muslims sign petition to ban ‘un-Quranic’ practice of triple talaq

June 1, 2016

New Delhi, Jun 1: Over 50,000 Muslim women and men have signed a petition spearheaded by Bhartiya Muslim Mahila Andolan (BMMA) seeking a ban on triple talaq. The women have sought support to abolish the “heinous” practice, which they have termed as “un-Quranic”

talaq

The Bharatiya Muslim Mahila Andolan (BMMA) wrote to the National Commission for Women and sought its support to make the practice that “destroys the life of women” as illegal.

“We demand to end the practice of oral or unilateral divorce or triple talaq and we have collected 50,000 signatures from women and men for this,” the rights group said in their letter to Lalitha Kumaramanglam, Chairperson, National Commission for Women.

The group had found that women want “a legal ban on the practice of the heinous practice which destroys the life of many women and children”.

They had compiled case studies of women who have “suffered” the ordeal of triple talaq.

“We are bringing out the suffering and pain caused to women and children owing to this inhuman practice,” it added.

The co-founders, Noorjehan Safia Niaz and Zakia Soman of BMMA “strive for equal citizenship of Muslims as enshrined in the Constitution as well as for justice and equality for Muslim women based on the Quranic tenets”.

“The instant method of divorce has no mention in the Quran. In fact the Quranic method requires a 90 day process of dialogue, reconciliation and mediation before divorce takes place,” they said.

Talaq OR divorce is among all legal things it is the only very hatred thing to ALLAH the creator of all.
And it is the last option in Islam when it is the only method for both wife and husband if they can not continue their married relation.

Divorce is a 3step process. There has to be mediation of senior members of both the spouses. If they decide it is impossible to continue the married life, then the spouses can go for 1st Talaq.
Once the Talaq is pronounced, there is a time of iddat (waiting period). This period is the completion of menstrational period. Until the wife completely cleaned.
This is not ONE GO process.
For the third time only it completely comes into Talaq and separation is pronounced.

Both needs to consult the Religious scholars.
May Allah guide to understand the sanctity of married and family life and to fulfill our obligations

Patna, July 1: A wedding ceremony in rural Patna a fortnight ago where the groom was running high fever, two days before he died and his body cremated without being tested for COVID 19, appears to have set off the biggest infection chain in Bihar so far, health department officials said on Tuesday.

More than 111 people have tested positive in Paliganj sub-division of Patna district, about 55 km from the state capital, in the last few days, out of over 350 who have been tested upon contact tracing, they said. Fifteen of his relatives who attended the wedding tested positive for the contagion and apparently infected others.

The officials, who requested anonymity, said the groom was a software engineer based in Gurugram and had returned home for his marriage in the last week of May. A few days after the ''tilak'' ceremony, he started showing symptoms of the disease.

On June 15, the date of wedding, he was running high fever and wanted the ceremony to be deferred, but relented upon the insistence of family members who made him swallow paracetamol tablets and go through the rituals.
On June 17, his condition deteriorated significantly and family members made a dash to AIIMS, Patna, but he died on the way.

The body was cremated in a huff, without the authorities being informed. But somebody telephoned the district magistrate and narrated the whole episode. All close relatives of the deceased, who attended the ceremony, were tested on June 19. Of them 15 tested positive, the officials said.

As a measure to contain the spread of the disease, a special camp was set up at the village where the marriage took place on June 24-26 during which samples of 364 people were collected. Of them, 86 tested positive, the officials added.

The sudden explosion of the dreaded coronavirus has triggered panic in the area. Although most who tested positive were asymptomatic, they have been admitted to isolation centres in Bihta and Phulwarisharif.

Block Development Officer Chiranjeev Pandey said Meetha Kuan, Khagari Mohalla and parts of Paliganj Bazaar have been sealed for thorough sanitisation.

Patna district happens to be the worst-affected in Bihar with 699 confirmed cases till date and five casualties, according to figures provided by the administration. The number of active cases is 372.

On Monday, when the state witnessed its biggest single day spike with 394 cases, Patna district accounted for more than 20 per cent of these. About eighty cases were reported from Paliganj alone.

Jan 6: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Subramanian Swamy on Sunday said the country's economy is not showing good signs though Prime Minister Narendra Modi has manifested tremendous leadership skills in fighting terror and in social welfare projects.

The fiscal decisions of the government have not yielded the desired results, the Rajya Sabha MP said here.

"Modi had shown tremendous leadership skill in fighting terror, in several social areas, micro areas like bringing toilets to every village home. But the economy is a complex system...," he said while taking part in a discussion.

While every minister is talking about a 5 trillion dollar economy by 2024, but the current GDP growth has to be multiplied in four years to achieve that, the former Union minister said.

He said, if wages are slashed as a measure to cope with the situation, labor will become cheap but that will also cut down the people's purchasing power triggering dip in demand, closing down factories and rise in unemployment.

"This is one problem for which you really need an economist," he said.

Swamy said in jest, "I think Modi has one problem with me. Not only I am an economist but also a politician."
