Chitradurga, Mar 28: Six-year-old Janahvi T, one of the youngest donors, has given a new lease of life to five people.

After she was declared brain-dead, her parents consented to donate Janahvi's organs to the critically ill, saving lives of five people.

A native of Chitradurga, the girl's heart was successfully transplanted to a 9-year-old boy from Vishakapatnam district in Andhra Pradesh.

Her father Tippeswamy, who is still in shock, said that he does not believe that his daughter is no more. "She was a very active girl, just a month ago she complained of stomach pain and had frequent giddiness. When she was unable to even write in her books, we decided to take her to the hospital for a thorough check up," he said.

Janahvi's parents had taken her to a private hospital in Chitradurga first, but her ailment could not be detected there. Later, she was taken to another private hospital in Mangaluru where she was diagnosed with a tumour in the brain.

It was his daughter's liveliness and spontaneous conversations with the doctors that confused them, Tippeswamy said. The doctors had initially thought there were no health issues with Janahvi. However, they found a tumour in her brain after conducting an MRI.

The private hospital later referred her to Father Muller hospital in Mangaluru, where she was operated on for nearly 14 hours to remove the tumour and its water content from the brain. Before the operation, however, the doctors had informed Janahvi's parents of the risk involved and the chances of survival.

Tippeswamy said that after the surgery Janahvi was mostly in a state of coma. She, however, had faintly opened her eyes and made some movements. But later the doctors told the parents that she was brain-dead.

The hospital staff, including coordinators from Jeevasarthakathe, a government agency which facilitates organ transplants, visited Janahvi's parents in the hospital and requested them to donate her organs.

Realising the finality of her condition, Janahvi's parents consented to donate her organs. Besides her heart and eyes, they donated her kidneys to two adult recipients, and her liver to a 9-year-old child. Her father, though heart-broken, feels happy that his daughter is alive through others.

Mangaluru, Apr 23: Muslims in coastal Karnataka will fast tomorrow (April 24) along with Middle Eastern Muslims as the Khazis in the region have confirmed the beginning of the blessed month of Ramadan tonight.

Religious authorities in Saudi Arabia and a few Middle Eastern countries have already declared that Friday will be the start of the month of fasting.

In Kerala and twin districts of coastal Karnataka - Dakshina Kannada and Udupi- the announcement was made following maghrib praers as the cresent moon was sighted in a few places in Kerala.

The Thakbeer was pronounced from the minarets of the mosques across Dakshina Kannada and Udupi after Maghrib Namaz as the religious heads confirmed the moon sighting.

However, the religious heads including Mangaluru Khazi Twaqa Ahmed Musliar and Udupi Khazi Ibrahim Musliyar Bekal, have urged the Muslims to offer all the prayers including Taraveeh at homes along with family members due to the lockdown imposed to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

There will be no congregational taraveeh prayers in mosques and Muslims should follow the covid-19 guidelines of the government, they stated.

Ramadan begins around 11 days earlier each year. Its start is calculated based on the sighting of the new moon, which marks the beginning of the Muslim lunar month that varies between 29 or 30 days.

During the month, Muslims are expected to abstain during daylight hours from food, drink, smoking and sex to focus on spirituality.

How it is possible that only Kerala people can witness the moon?

Can they come forward in Media and give Shahaadah, why the other parts of India will not follow.

"Those attacking Union MoS @ianuragthakur for his statement against traitors are the ones who - opposed death to terrorirts Ajmal Kasab and Yakub Memon, supported tukde tukde gang, spread lies against CAA. Anti-nationals should get bullet not biryani," Ravi tweeted.

Earlier, Thakur had allegedly made slogans like "Desh ke gaddaro ko, goli maaro saalo ko (shoot the traitors)" multiple times during a public meeting in Delhi. He had also faced a show-cause notice from the Electon Commission, asking a response from him on January 30.

Bengaluru, June 5: Under the leadership of trouble-shooter D K Shivakumar, the Karnataka Congress is planning a political ‘ghar wapsi’ to bring back leaders who quit the party and also rope in those from other parties.

Shivakumar, the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president, has constituted a 12-member committee headed by former minister Allum Veerabhadrappa to liaise to anchor this effort to bring back people into the party fold.

The committee comprises of former legislators B A Hasanabba, Ajaykumar Sarnaik, Abhaychandra Jain, Satish Sail, Prafulla Madhukar, former MPs R Dhruvanarayan and BN Chandrappa, MLA V Muniyappa, former mayor Sampath Raj, Mahila Congress leader Kripa Alva and former KPCC general secretary V Y Ghorpade.

This move comes more than a year after over a dozen Congress MLAs defected and joined the BJP, leading to the collapse of the Congress-JD(S) coalition government. Also, several influential leaders quit the party ahead of the Lok Sabha elections last year.

The constitution of this committee also coincides with disgruntlement brewing within the ruling BJP.

“Many people who left the party and others have applied (to join Congress). Many have met me also. I felt it wouldn't be right for me to make a decision. So, this committee has been constituted,” Shivakumar said. “They will process all applications and send it to the KPCC.”

According to Shivakumar, any person wanting to join the Congress should accept the party’s leadership and its ideology. “Importantly, they should be first accepted by the cadre. If there's no acceptance from the cadre, then what's the point?” he said.

should not vote them even if they return to congress. They are backstabbers of voters.
