632 dogs sterilised in Kasaragod

street dogsKasargod, Dec 7: As part of addressing the menace of street dogs, as many as 632 stray dogs have been sterilised by the Animal Birth Control (ABC) centre here. The mission had sterilised 178 dogs in November alone. The break-up is — Kasaragod municipality - 126, Madhur grama panchayat - 97, Mogral-Puthur - 53, Kumbla - 151, Chemnad - 30, Chengala - 48, and Badiadukka - 127. District panchayat president A.G.C. Basheer chaired the review meeting of the scheme.

The meeting decided to entrust the Nirmithi Kendra with the task of setting up basic infrastructure facility at the ABC centre at the Neeleswaram municipality for sterilising dogs.

Mandya, Apr 3: Following the lock down in the country, people habit ventured into Liquor bottles worth several lakhs of rupees have been stolen at two places in the district.

Miscreants targeted a wine store at Chikka Mandya on the outskirts of the town in the early hours and also made away with the stock from a wine store near Hadly Circle in Malavalli town late night on Thursday. The incidents came to light on Friday.

A window was broken open at Chikka Mandya store and a wall was drilled at Malavalli store to take away the cartons, the police said.

Belagavi, Jan 16: Six Poachers were arrested in two different cases at Gollahalli forest range in Kittur section in the district on Thursday.

The arrested were identified as Bharmesh alias Bharmappa Hanumant Bhajantri, Mallesh Hanumant Bhajantri residents of Budanakatti in Bailahongal Taluk.

Another alleged accused Yuvraj Basappa Bhajantri managed to escape.

Madikeri, Jul 24: Water from river Cauvery, which is deemed as holy, and mud from Kodagu, the birth district of river Cauvery was collected and will be sent to Ayodhya for use during groundbreaking (Bhoomi Pooja) ceremony for the construction of Ram Mandir on August 5.

Workers of Bajrang Dal, Vishwa Hindu Parishat and Hindu Jagarana Vedike collected the soil and water from River Cauvery at Talacauvery Kshetra, the birthplace of river Cauvery.

Special pooja was offered at Talacauvery, praying for the timely completion of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
