Udupi, Mar 15: An elderly man lost his life after being attacked by a swarm of wild honey bees at Belinje village near Hebri in Karkala taluk of Udupi district.
The deceased has been identified as Joseph alias Pachappan (64), who working as a clerk in a plantation belonging to Jose Tarpel for the last three years at Belinje village.
At around 7.30 a.m. on Sunday, he went to switch on the water pump in the plantation, when he was stung by the swarm of wild bees.
Later, he was rushed to a private hospital in Hebri, where the doctors pronounced him dead.
Pachappan hailed from Kasaragod district in Kerala and was living with his wife in Belinje.
A case of unnatural death has been registered. Investigation is on, the police said.
