Mangaluru, Mar 23: : Around 68% of degree boy students watch rape and child porn seven hours per week, while 28% of degree girls in namma Kudla watch it on an average of three hours per week, according to Rescue, an NGO that conducted a survey on consequences of violent porn and teen porn.

Giving details of the survey on Wednesday, Abishek Clifford, CEO, Rescue, said the survey was carried out in 25 colleges in the city, comprising 500 students. The target age was 16-21 years. "Around 38% boys watch violent porn, including on average 11 per week, while 1,900 new students start watching rape each year and during their PU/degree years, they will have seen 2,900 rapes!" said Abhishek, quoting the survey results.

This watching of porn inspires rape and illicit activities, a fact that students agreed on during the survey, while 78% students agreed that porn is progressive and addictive. Around 87% of respondents said it leads to sexual activities and according to the students, 32% are sexually active with their partners. "This is also leading to unwanted youth pregnancies. According to our survey, each year 1,000 teen girls in Mangaluru get pregnant and undergo abortions," said Abhishek.

Watching rape videos also provokes teens to actually rape someone. The survey reveals that 82% said watching rape gives rise to a desire to rape someone in reality. "Even if 10% act on this desire, it would mean we are training 160 new rapists a year in Mangaluru city," according to Abhishek. He added that 75% said it also inspires them to go to prostitutes, while 37% actually do it.

To avoid all this, banning teen and rape porn on the internet is the only solution. He said soon after completing the survey across India, the NGO would file a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) to ban such content from the internet. Asked where such content gets uploaded, Abhishek said it is done in foreign countries where trafficked girls are raped every day, as it is with child porn.

He added that in the past six years, more than 250 teen girls from Mangaluru are abducted by human traffickers and forced into sexual exploitation. "While 50% boys watch child porn, 70% of porn sites have such content." To combat the situation, awareness among teenagers and a complete ban of content from the web is the only solution, he pointed out.

First of all block all sexual and violent sites on internet. And file case on sharing such videos on social media and whatSapp. And most of all these responsible students ( children of good parents ) must have known the economic theory. When demand increases supply increases. So stop watching this and stop the demand. Stopping the demand will save many girls from being forced into such tragedies.

Bengaluru, May 17: Left to itself, Karnataka will look to spring back towards normalcy under Lockdown 4.0 as the state government is on standby to resume public transport services from May 18, if the Centre allows it.

Though KSRTC and BMTC have been preparing for resumption of services, officials in the two corporations told DH that they cannot make a move till the government makes a decision.

Transport Commissioner N Shivakumar said the department will take a decision based on the state government's orders. "The government will take a call on buses as well as taxi and other transport services," he said.

Senior officials in the state government said Deputy Chief Minister and Transport Minister Laxman Savadi has written to Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari seeking a nod for resumption of the services.

Transport Secretary Gaurav Gupta has written a separate letter to his counterpart in the Union government requesting permission to operate public transport. "The state government wants the services to open. The official has listed out the steps the corporations will take to ensure social distancing other steps that will be taken to check spread of Coronavirus," a source said.

The B S Yediyurappa administration has been bullish on easing lockdown restrictions.

If the Centre empowers the states to define Lockdown 4.0, Karnataka is likely to do away with the red-orange-green zoning of districts and allow public services to resume, except in COVID-19 containment zones. The government is also likely to redefine its containment strategy by micromanaging localities where COVID-19 cases are reported, without letting life in an entire district get affected.

The government has already shown willingness to allow hotels and gyms to open after May 17 subject to social distancing norms and restrictions. In fact, the government has proposed to allow the resumption of all economic activities in standalone establishments. The government, however, is not keen on opening malls, theatres, diners and establishments that have centralized air conditioning.

“Everything depends on the Centre,” Deputy Chief Minister CN Ashwath Narayan said. “Our only stand is that the red zone should be treated at par with the other zone when it comes to relaxation.”

Hassan, Feb 2: Former prime minister and JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda has said that the controversy over the Citizenship (Amendment) Act should be resolved peacefully through discussion.

Speaking to reporters in Halebeed on Saturday, Gowda said that the Act affects only Muslims but would also prove troublesome for the Hindus. “Opening fire on anti-CAA protesters is the not solution to the issue,” he said.

Deve Gowda said that during his tenure as prime minister a number of problems concerning Muslims were addressed. “But, in the run up to election, Rahul Gandhi described us ‘B’ team of BJP. This led to vote swing,” he added. When his comment was sought on the budget, the former prime minister said that he had not yet read the budget document.

Amidst heightened border tensions between Indian and China, senior BJP leader and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's two year old tweet comparing his party with Communist Party of China started going viral.

The tweet, dated 26 June, 2016 reads: "Communist Party of China & BJP have done numerous works in social field. This way, there is tremendous similarities between the two parties." (sic)

Twitterati dug up this tweet after over 20 Indian Army personnel, including a colonel, were killed in a clash with Chinese troops in the Galwan Valley in eastern Ladakh earlier this week.

Soon after Chouhan's tweet went viral, netizens took to the micro-blogging site and slammed BJP. One user said, "Interesting comment by Hindutva ITSELF to recognise how similar they are with China. No doubt. Both believe in Dragon Throne .... and brutal absolute control." Another user said, "No wonder the BJP & China both agree that PLA never crossed into Indian territory."
