8 Vyapam accused missing from GSVM Medical College

July 8, 2015

VyapamKanpur, Jul 8: The local GSVM Medical College is on the radar of Madhya Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) for the alleged involvement of its students in Vyapam medical entrance examination scam of 2013 and eight of its students are missing from the campus.

The medical college management does not know about the current status of these students. According to the administration, either these students are still lodged in jails or have been release on bail.

However, they have not reported back to the college. These are those students who were allegedly accused by the STF for their involvement in Vyapam scam.

"We aren't aware about these eight missing students from batches between 2010 and 2014. No information about these students has been submitted either by their guardians or MP police. They are absent from classes from past few months," an official on the condition of anonymity said.

As many as 22 students, who were found not guilty during interrogation or have been released from different jails across MP on bail, have been re-admitted in the medical college. Such students have been allowed to appear in their examinations and practical tests, which they had missed during the period they remained in jail. The students, who have resumed their studies in GSVM Medical College post investigation, had to submit a 'no objection certificate' before joining the college.

According to a list prepared by GSVM Medical College, 54 students were accused for alleged involvement in Vyapam by MP STF. They belong to batches from 2009 to 2014. Out of these 22 students have re-joined the college, 6 are still in jail and 8 are missing from the college campus. The remaining 18 students were from 2009 batch. The college administration claims that though these 18 students have passed out, their details have been given to the STF. However, the college is not aware about the current status of these students.

The college authorities believe that some of the students could be innocent and just had been named by peers. The students who are out on bail are in the state of depression and anxiety. Sources in the college informed that such students have lost concentration in studies. They are scared with the back to back deaths in the past three days.

"The deaths of people involved in the Madhya Pradesh Vyavsayik Pariksha Mandal (VYAPAM) Medical Entrance Exam scam have caused stir among the countrymen and also left us shaken," a senior faculty member of the medical college said on condition of anonymity.

The first complaint submitted by MP STF to the medical college was on September 22, 2014. But the accused did not turn up before the STF. He was then served notices through the college and finally in January, he appeared before the STF. Many accused students presented themselves

before the probe team in Bhopal, Sagar, Rewa and Jabalpur.

Talking about the fate of student who are still in jail, GSVM Medical College spokesman Ajay Kumar Sharma said: "the state government will to decide whether those students will be allowed to appear in the examination in future or their admission would be terminated."

New Delhi, Feb 25: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday told a meeting of Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and party leaders that "professional assessment" is that the violence in north-east Delhi has been "spontaneous".

He also said adequate forces have been already deployed in affected areas even as he urged political parties to avoid provocative speeches and statements which could flare up the situation and desist from rumour-mongering. He also instructed Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik to re-activate local peace committees.

"Shah noted that the professional assessment is that the violence in the capital has been spontaneous. He expressed confidence in Delhi Police and said that the force has shown maximum restraint to get the situation under control," a statement issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said.

However, on Monday, government sources had claimed that violence in the national capital "appeared to be orchestrated" to coincide with the high-profile visit. A PTI report from Hyderabad on Tuesday also quoted Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy as saying that the violence in Delhi has been perpetrated intentionally and the Narendra Modi government would not tolerate such incidents.

While Shah said adequate forces have been deployed, there were also reports that the Delhi Police Commissioner told MHA top brass that it did not have adequate forces to control the violence that erupted in north-east Delhi. However, Delhi Police later tweeted that the Commissioner has denied that "no such information was given to MHA" and such reports were "totally baseless".

Urging parties to avoid provocative speeches and statements which could flare up the situation, the statement said, Shah expressed confidence in Delhi Police and said that the force has shown maximum restraint to get the situation under control.

Appealing to all to maintain restraint and desist from rumour-mongering while instructing the Delhi Police Commissioner to re-activate local peace committees, Shah said Delhi's borders with Uttar Pradesh and Haryana have been under surveillance for the last three days.

Shah also urged parties to ask their local leaders to hold meetings in sensitive areas and instructed senior police officers to visit vulnerable police stations at the earliest

Jaipur, Jul 13: Congress Legislature Party (CLP) on Monday unanimously passed a resolution supporting Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot-led government and accusing the BJP of destabilising the government by indulging in horse-trading of MLAs.

The CLP also condemned all "undemocratic" acts to weaken Congress party and its government and demanded action against any Congress office-bearers involved in anti-party activities.

"Feared by exemplary works and public service of Congress government, BJP-led conspiracy is trying to destabilise Congress' state government, horse-trading of MLAs and trying to murder democracy by using money and political power," read the resolution.

"It is unfortunate that BJP did not learn lessons from the defeat in the Rajya Sabha elections and are trying to destabilise Congress government using corrupt means.

This ripping off of democracy by BJP is an insult to 8 crore people of Rajasthan, they will not accept it. CLP meet expresses its confidence in Congress President Sonia Gandhi and leader Rahul Gandhi, and unanimously supports the government led by Ashok Gehlot," it said.

"This meet urges that strict disciplinary action be taken against any office-bearer or member of Legislative Party who indulges in activities against the Congress government, party or gets involved in any conspiracy," read the resolution.

As many as 107 MLAs attended the CLP meeting, which begun in the afternoon and now has been concluded.

"107 MLAs are present at the CLP meeting in Jaipur," Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot's media advisor confirmed to media.

The crisis in Rajasthan Congress intensified with Gehlot and his deputy Sachin Pilot at loggerheads. While Gehlot is blaming BJP for trying to destabilise the state government by poaching MLAs, Pilot is camping in Delhi to speak to the party leadership regarding the political turmoil in the state.

BJP has claimed that the Ashok Gehlot-led government has lost the majority in the state.

"Sachin Pilot was the rightful candidate for the post of Rajasthan Chief Minister but Ashok Gehlot took the charge; a conflict in the party began since then. What is happening today is the result of that conflict. The state government has lost the majority," Rajasthan BJP President Satish Punia said today.
