800 IFF Haj volunteers prepared to serve the guests of Allah

Completing necessary preparations, India Fraternity Forum (IFF) is engaging a contingent of 800 volunteers for serving the Hajj pilgrims this year. These Indian expatriates from various states who are fluent in different local languages besides English and Arabic, which would help them to serve the Hajj pilgrims from India. The area of volunteer service will include, pilgrim accommodation in Makkah, Aziziyah, Hajj Mission medical facilities, Mashair Train stations in Arafa and the tent city of Mina including a number of medical dispensaries.

Volunteers will guide the pilgrims to reach their destinations, help avail medical facilities and wheel chairs when required. They will also advise them with health and safety instructions to perform the Hajj with ease and comfort. Volunteer deployment for the entire operation is facilitated under five teams – 100 volunteers in Makkah Team, 100 volunteers for Arafa Team, 200 volunteers for Mina Tent service Team, 350 volunteers for Mina. Apart from this, 50 volunteers will be engaged in various hospitals and medical facilities in Mina.

Volunteers have already started extending their services, since the first group of Hajj pilgrims from India has arrived in the Kingdom and more than 100 volunteers have been serving the Indian Hajees in the premises of Masjidul Haram Makkah and Aziziyah. In Madina, the Fraternity Forum volunteers from different Indian states are helping the pilgrims.

Hajj Camps: Fraternity Forum has arranged Hajj camps in Tamilnadu, Karnataka and Kerala for guiding the Hajj pilgrims before they leave the country for Hajj. The camps organized were unique and effective with multimedia presentation conveying details to the Hajj pilgrims starting from their home till they return back to their homes. Under different sessions, the camps conveyed the spirit of Hajj, how to perform hajj step by step, health and safety precautions while travelling and performing the rituals of Hajj and during their stay in the holy cities.

Map for Hajj pilgrims: To help the Indian pilgrims, Fraternity Forum has prepared the map covering the whole area of pilgrim accommodation in Makkah and Aziziyah and the updated map for the tent city of Mina will be released on the 5th of Dhul-Hijja.

Mina Tent locator App. : Last year, India Fraternity Forum has developed an android based application for locating the tents in Mina and Updated version of this app will be released on 1st Dhul Hajj. This app will cover the Aziziyah accommodation area and the whole of the tent of city of Mina and will help the Hajis to reach their destinations/ accommodation buildings easily.

The whole volunteer operation will be coordinated by a team with Mudassar (Coordinator) Faisal T (Asst. Coordinator), Mujeeburrahman (Volunteer Captain), Ismail (Asst. Captain).

Appreciate your interest. I was also part of IFF volunteer some time back. IFF don't go around to find volunteers. They receive thousands of enthusiastic volunteer request from everywhere. In which they sort out to hundreds. If you are interested try to contact nearest IFF volunteer members.

Dammam: Indian Social Forum, Dammam, Karnataka chapter organized a "Live along with COVID-19" webinar on 29 May 2020 in association with HealthCare Polyclinic, Dammam.

The webinar at Zoom App. featured over 150+ resident Kannadigas from Saudi Arabia's eastern and neighboring provinces.

Dr. Shailendranath made a presentation on the program and gave useful information. Indian Social Forum Dammam, Karnataka Chapter President Sharif Joktake delivered the keynote address. General Secretary Irshad Jokatte stalled the program.

Kuwait: Eid is usually a time of family get-togethers and feasts after weeks of dawn-to-dusk fasting. But this year people celebrated at home, with virus fears dampening the holiday spirit and strict restrictions in place.

Kuwait went under full curfew before the start of Ramadan leaving people to practice fasting and Ramadan rituals at home, Even Eid al-Fitr came under full lock-down period.

As situation demanded, IMA Kuwait celebrated the Eid Get-together online via video conferencing tool, All IMA members participated joyfully in Eid Milan online gathering which was scheduled immediately after Eid prayer. Members participated and congratulated each other on the eve of Eid.

The IMA president Shamvel Parviz addressed the gathering and thanked them for joining online for this unique Eid celebration which will be remembered in history. He also advised members to be aware of conditions of neighbors, friends and family and assist them if they need help in this difficult time.

Eid al-Fitr follows weeks of fasting and marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Thousands of Muslims all over Kuwait followed strict guideline and performed Eid prayer at home along with their family.

As a part of social service activities IMA also distributed ration kits before start of Ramadan and during Ramadan for needy people all over Kuwait.

In a humanitarian gesture to help fellow citizens in distress, the first in the series of chartered 
flights arranged by Thumbay Group, UAE and the Bearys Cultural Forum (BCF) Trust, 
Mangalore to repatriate stranded Kannadigas in the UAE took off from Ras Al Khaimah 
International Airport in the wee hours of 21st July 2020. The flight was fully occupied, with 186 passengers, all of them desperate to fly back to India for various reasons.

The initiative was conceived and implemented under the leadership of Dr. Thumbay Moideen - Founder President of Thumbay Group & Founder Patron of BCF and Dr. B K Yusuf, the 
President of BCF. The flight was organized on a purely charitable basis, with all necessary 
steps and precautions in place to ensure the safety and comfort of passengers. Thumbay Group assigned its fleet of buses to transport the passengers free of charge from their residences in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman to the airport. The organizers also provided free meals and refreshments to the passengers, in addition to PPE kits and face-shields distributed free of 
charges.

The passengers on the first flight included many elderly individuals, people with serious 
illnesses like heart-related health issues and diabetes, pregnant ladies and little children as well as people who had lost their jobs and those with expired visas. Dr. B K Yusuf – BCF President, Dr. Kaup Mohammed - BCF General Secretary, other office bearers of BCF, as well as Thumbay Group’s representatives Mr. Farhad C – Director of the Hospitality Division of 
Thumbay Group and Engr. Farwaz P. C. – COO of the Construction Division were present at 
the airport to see off the first group of passengers.

Commenting on the initiative, Dr. Thumbay Moideen said, “This joint initiative of Thumbay 
Group and BCF is to support our fellow Kannadigas desperate to fly back home. We are happy that we have been able to reach out to many of them, to help them fly home to their families. We thank the Governments of the UAE and India, and the Indian Consulate, Dubai, for their support in making this happen. In the coming days, many more stranded Kannadigas would be repatriated under this joint initiative.”
Dr. B K Yusuf thanked Dr. Thumbay Moideen and the office-bearers and members of BCF for 
their efforts to make the initiative a success.

“We are proud that this initiative has brought relief to many Kannadigas and their families today. BCF is grateful to Thumbay Group for its support and partnership for all our humanitarian programs for the support of the needy.”

Dr. Kaup Mohammed said that it was a matter of pride that the much-awaited Thumbay-BCF 
repatriation flight had been carried out successfully. “Measures have been taken to ensure the safety of the flight and its passengers throughout the journey,” he said. He also thanked all the social organizations including Bhatkal Jamath, BCCI, BWF, KCF, DKSC, Kodagu Kannadigas, 
Kannadiga Help Line, Dubai Konkans and KSS, for their support. He specially thanked Mr. 
Syed Hassan Razeen, the owner of ARISTOCRAT Travels for his support in the ticketing, 
boarding and related processes. On behalf of Milano Optics Group and Maxcare, free gift 
hampers were distributed to selected passengers.

The passengers were received at Mangalore airport under the leadership of Mr. Mumtaz Ali - patron of BCF and other distinguished personalities of Mangalore including Mr. Moidin Bava - former MLA, Mr U. T. Ifthikhar, Mr. S. M. R Rashid - President of BCCI central committee and many others. The passengers were transferred to the hotels where they had registered for the mandatory quarantine.

The second flight under this joint initiative is scheduled to take-off from Ras Al Khaimah airport to Mangalore on 24th July 2020. A few more similar repatriation flights are to soon follow, in the coming weeks.
