91K cops to be deployed across Karnataka for LS polls on Apr 18, 23

Bengaluru, Apr 16: To ensure fair and peaceful Lok Sabha polls in Karnataka, which will be held in two phases on Apri 18 and 23, in all 90,997 police personnel and officers will be deployed across the State, Director General of Police Neelamani S Raju said on Tuesday.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, she said that Mandya, Hassan, Bengaluru Rural and Kodagu Districts have been identified as sensitive segments.

Out of total 58,225 polling stations in 28 Lok Sabha segments in the State 11,992 have been identified as sensitive booths and it will be manned by two head constables besides other police and Home Guard personnel, while in other booths there will be one head constable besides other police personnel.

Mangaluru: Central Market remains shut; grocery stores open till noon

Mangaluru, Mar 25 : Taking into account surge of COVID-19 cases in neighbouring districts, Dakshina Kannada district administration has decided to suspend retail sales at Central Market in Mangaluru and public will not be allowed to purchase at Central Market from Thursday.

Proper arrangements have been made for the public to buy from nearby grocery shops from 6 am till 12 noon.
However strict social distancing has to be ensured by the vendors failing which action will be taken, warned Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh. The public are advised to follow social distancing measures.

Nearly 30 injured as Mangaluru-Bengaluru bus falls into trench

Puttur, Jan 4: As many as 27 passengers travelling in a private bus escaped with minor injuries after it toppled and fell into a roadside trench at Amai near Perne on Mangaluru-Bengaluru national highway last night, police said on Saturday.

Police said that the driver of the Bengaluru-bond bus lost control over the vehicle while traversing through the narrow bridge at Amai.

The bus was damaged in the mishap.

Maha, Dubai, Ukraine returnees among 24 new covid cases in DK; 88 of 167 cases are active

Mangaluru, June 6: As many as 24 coronavirus positive cases reported in Dakshina Kannada in 24 hours (from 5 p.m. June 5 to 5 p.m. June 6).

With this the total number of covid-19 cases mounted to 167, among which 88 are currently active.

Among the newly detected 24 cases 11 are Maharashtra returnees, 6 are Dubai returnees, 1 is Arabia returnee, 1 is Ukraine/Turkey returnee. And source of 5 new cases still remained untraced.
