AAP should not lose to political immaturity: Jaitley

Varanasi, Mar 28: Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Saturday said the AAP government must not lose opportunity to work for the people of Delhi due to "political immaturity".

"People voted for this government with high hopes and they expect the promises to be fulfilled. Because of political immaturity, they should not lose this opportunity," Jaitley said in response to a question on Saturday.

AAP Jaitley He also slammed the recording of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's conversation by a party member, calling it a new kind of politics.

"This is a new kid of politics that conversation between two politicians is recorded, this is not expected," he said.

Differences in the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) came out in open on Friday when Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan addressed a press conference, and offered to resign from the party.

In another press conference, AAP members slammed the two for working against the interests of the party.

Later, a tape surfaced in which Kejriwal is heard slamming Yadav and Bhushan and threatens to walk out of the party to form a new outfit.

The conversation was allegedly between Kejriwal and Umesh Singh, an AAP worker from Benaras. The authenticity of the tape has not been established.

Social distancing, wearing masks is 'maryada' at present: PM at Ram temple event

Ayodhya, Aug 5: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday recalled the significance of the path of 'maryada' associated with Lord Ram in the backdrop of the situation created by COVID-19 and emphasised the importance of social distancing and wearing face masks.

He said that the current situation demands 'maryada' should be 'do gaz ki doori, mask hai zaroori' and exhorted everyone to follow it.

In his speech after laying the foundation stone of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the Prime Minister said the temple of Lord Ram will inspire and guide humans for ages to come.

He said that the path of `maryada' followed by Lord Ram is all the more necessary today in the situation created by COVID-19.

"The `maryada' (need) today is do gaj ki doori, mask hai jaroori (keep distance of two yards, wear mask). The Almighty may keep all the citizens healthy and happy, this is my prayer. The blessings of Mother Sita and Shri Ram be always there on the citizens," he said.

The Prime Minister termed the occasion as historic and said that India is starting a glorious chapter when people across the country are excited and emotional to have finally achieved what they had been waiting for centuries.

Time to fight covid, not elections: Prashant Kishor to Nitish Kumar

New Delhi, Jul 11: Poll strategist Prashant Kishor took a swipe at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday, saying this is time to fight the coronavirus not elections and that he should not endanger people's lives in a "hurry" to hold the assembly polls.

"The coronavirus situation in Bihar is worsening like it is in many other states of the country. But a big part of government machinery and resources are busy making preparation for the polls.

"Nitish Kumar ji, this isn't time to fight elections but the coronavirus. Don't endanger people's lives in this hurry to hold the polls," he tweeted.

Kishor, once a confidant of the JD(U) president before he turned a critic and was expelled from the party, joins leaders like LJP chief Chirag Paswan and RJD's Tejashwi Yadav in suggesting that the Bihar assembly polls should be deferred due to the pandemic.

Polls in Bihar are due in October-November but the Election Commission has so far not made any official announcement about its schedule.

The BJP and the JD(U) have been holding organisational meetings and said that they are ready for the elections.

New Delhi, May 25: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday extended his greetings on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr and wished that the festival will bring peace and happiness to all.

"Extend my warm greetings on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. May this festival bring peace and happiness in everyone's life," Shah tweeted.

Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated across the country on Monday.
