Abu Dhabi: ICC conducts blood donation and health awareness camp

Abu Dhabi, May 25: The Kannada unit of Islamic Cultural Centre, a community service organization based in Abu Dhabi conducted a blood donation camp as part of its social service on May 23 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at ICC hall Muroor in coordination with Abu Dhabi Blood Bank.

A large number of NRIs participated in the camp.

The programme was aimed at spreading greater awareness about the importance of blood donation as well as helping prevent blood shortage in the region.

The blood donation camp was inaugurated by VK Rashed, ICC president of Kannada Unit and its social service in charge Abdul salam Derlakatte who also working as pharmacist at Ministry of Health, Abu Dhabi, by formally donating the blood.

An informative presentation and health awareness on chronic disease and modern life style was also given by Dr Viquar Azeem, general practitioner and director of Ittihad Medical Center, Abu Dhabi.

He shared some touching examples where how the bad food habits will adversely affecting to form the bad cholesterol and other major chronic diseases like hypertension, diabetes it may results heart attack.

The community members including ICC Malayalam and ICC Urdu units donated the blood and showed example to the society. Prior to the donation BP, temperature level and other check up were done by the staff.

ICC kannada unit executive members Imran Ahmed kudroli, Abdul Latif, and Irshad BM played a major role in the camp.

Dubai, May 20: Dubai-based Karnataka Sports and Cultural Club’s humanitarian services in charge Naseer Karaje team have appreciated the efforts of Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner, Mangaluru Airport director, NGOs of Mangaluru, and MLA for extending a royal welcome to second batch of repatriates from Dubai that landed at Mangaluru Airport on May 18.

There was so much of confusions when 1st batch of repatriation flight landed in Mangaluru airport on 12th May due to lack of proper arrangements and co ordination.

This time due to proper arrangements and special supervision by the DC everything was driven smoothly. It has given a confidence to all the Manglurean expats of Dubai in returning to their native places, the KSCC said.
