Abu Dhabi: Tradition, grandeur mark World Bunts Day

Abu Dhabi, May 3: Hundreds of Bunts participated in the colourful World Bunts Day organized by UAE Bunts at the Armed Forces Club, Abu Dhabi on April 25.

The traditional festivities started at 10 am under the leadership of Sarvotham Shetty, president of UAE Bunts. All the VIPs and guests of the day were welcomed with traditional drum beats (chande) troupe, including men and women dressed in Indian traditional attires. A special attraction of the programme was that everybody was dressed in traditional Bunts attire, reflecting the rich culture of their homeland. A variety of colourful group dances were presented by children and adults.

The programme was presided over by Padmashree Dr B R Shetty, patron UAE Bunts, inaugurated by Sri Sri Sri Dr Vidyavachaspati Vishwa Santhosh Bharathi Sripadaru, Bhargava Beedu, Barkur Udupi district.

The prestigious 'Bunta Vibhushana' Award institutred by UAE Bunts was conferred on Vijayanath Vittal Shetty, well-known Indian entrepreneur and businessman and trustee of Bhoothanatheshwara Temple Mijar. He was felicitated with a shawl, Mysore Peta, memento and Sanmana Patra. After a brief introduction of organizers Manoj Shetty and Varna Shetty were felicitated. The felicitation programme was compered by Jyothika Shetty.

The programme continued with more dances by children, namely by Blues Diamond Abu Dhabi and freestyle Bollywood mix by Avirath and team, Dubai. Yakshagana Rupaka by Shashi Shetty and Guru Shetty was beautifully performed by the groups and received a huge applause from the audience.

The important session held on the occasion was group discussion about Bunts tradition, culture, 'Achara Vichara' and Tulu/Kannada language. During these discussions several members of the audience raised important questions. Appropriate and meaningful answers were given by guests who came from the different parts of world to attend the event which made atmosphere very homely.

A delicious mouth-watering buffet was arranged in an open skylight area of auditorium adding charm to the atmosphere. After the lunch five teams (Kithoora Rani Chennamma, Krishnadevaraya, Rani Abbakka, Onake Obavva and Sangoli Rayanna) participated in the group dance competition. The competition was mind blowing and a tough job for judges Vijay Kumar Shetty of Kala Jagathu, Mumbai, Ganesh Hegde, Bollywood choreographer, Mumbai and Vijayanatha Vittal Shetty, businessman from Mumbai to decide, as all the performances were praiseworthy and received a huge round of applause from the audiance. However, the judges had to make a decision and the final results were as follows: Ist prize – Sangolli Rayanna group, choereographed by Prasanna Shetty and Sachin Mada, Dubai, 2nd prize – Krishnadevaraya, choreographed by Jasmitha Vivek, Dubai, 3rd prize – Onake Obavva, choregraphed by Pawan, Abu Dhabi

The best choregrapher prize went to Prasanna Shetty and Sachin Mada. They were awarded with winning tropies and cash prizes.

Winner of Shaikh Hamdan Awardees, and throwball champions were felicitated on the occasion. The kids' dance group got presents for their performance.

Sudheer Kumar Shetty, COO UAE Exchange Global was felicitated on the auspicious occasion for his achievements and for receiving two international awards as NRI personality of the year recently.

The cultural programmes were compered by Mangala Shetty, Sampath Shetty, Jyothica Shetty and Reshma Alva.

'Bale Telipaale' the famous hilarious skits were enjoyed by the audience during three sessions of the programme. Towards the end, a raffle draw was held and prizes were distributed on the spot.

CA Shankar Shetty, president of Bunts Sangha, Mumbai made the concluding remarks and suggested how to take this "World Bunts Day" forward year after year with the help of worldwide Bunts Sanghas. He wholeheartedly praised the event organized by the UAE Bunts.

B R Shetty of NMC thanked Sarvotham Shetty for his hard work and dedication and for making this 40th get-together of UAE Bunts and World Bunts Day a most memorable one.

The entire programme captured the beauty of Bunt harmony and highlighted the tradition, culture and unity of Tulunadu.

UAE Bunts president Sarvotham Shetty coordinated the entire programme with the help of Vijay Kumar Shetty and organizing committee members of UAE Bunts.

Karnataka Sports and Cultural Club (KSCC) organized Blood Donation Camp at Latifa Hospital, Oud Mehta Dubai on April 23rd, 2020 in association with Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and with support from Community Development Authority (CDA) Government of Dubai.

Blood Donation Drive started in the morning at 7:30 am to 6:00 pm. Around 48 people participated in this drive and donated blood to support the Dubai Blood Bank.

A potential shortage of blood for transfusions has been occurred due to a significant reduction in voluntary blood donations during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic. The current pandemic, health services are now running with shortages of blood availability. To support the DHA Blood Bank KSCC taken initiative to ensure that blood donations continued and are safe for both the donor and the recipient.

After taking safety precaution and safe distance during the blood donation donors feeling happy and honored to participate and donate blood at this pandemic situation. Club Manager Mr. Mohammad Shafi was also present during this event.

KSCC appreciated all the blood donors and be grateful to Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Community Development Authority (CDA), and Government of Dubai for their association for this event. They also thanked the volunteers and supporters.

Dammam: Indian Social Forum, Dammam, Karnataka chapter organized a "Live along with COVID-19" webinar on 29 May 2020 in association with HealthCare Polyclinic, Dammam.

The webinar at Zoom App. featured over 150+ resident Kannadigas from Saudi Arabia's eastern and neighboring provinces.

Dr. Shailendranath made a presentation on the program and gave useful information. Indian Social Forum Dammam, Karnataka Chapter President Sharif Joktake delivered the keynote address. General Secretary Irshad Jokatte stalled the program.

Kuwait: The Covid-19 pandemic has pushed the whole world into a difficult situation and the situation of Indians in Kuwait is not any different. Many people have lost their jobs, have no salary, are deprived of food and are not able to pay rent. The appalling conditions of labourers, domestic workers, taxi drivers and low waged earners don’t seem to end in Kuwait. 

At this trying situation when many people were even afraid of leaving their houses because of coronavirus, Suresh S. Rao Neramballi, volunteer of the Food Kit Distribution at the ICSG (Indian Community Support Group) has helped many tremendously. He was ready to go around delivering food kits at any time possible by his car. However, after Kuwait imposed a full curfew from 11th May 2020, no one could take out their vehicles unless they had a curfew pass. 

This did not stop Mr. Suresh Neramballi, who then borrowed a bicycle from a friend and ended up going around in the cycle delivering the food kits in curfew break time (4:30pm to 6:30pm) to all those who registered in the ICSG website. This selfless service surely commands appreciation and applause. Mr. Suresh Neramballi has been a light for many families and bachelors in Kuwait and will surely garner the blessings of them who have been able to eat at this time.

He was also the one who could deliver the food kits to many Indian Muslim maids, bachelors, laborers and families previous day and right on the day of EID, as they were not able to go shopping for their groceries for EID, due to the curfew. They blessed him in EID dua. 

Mr. Suresh Neramballi hails from Mangaluru, India and is an Engineer in the Oil sector company in Kuwait. He has been dedicated to social service, achieved 'Aryabhata International Award' for his Kannada Service and Social service, served in many Associations and Distributor of Kannada and Tulu Movies in Kuwait. He wholeheartedly thanks the people and government of Kuwait for his bread and butter.

God bless you brother and keep you healthy plus happy always.   You will be in the prayers of those who receivec your timely regardles they are hindu or muslim or christian.   This is a slap on the face of hate mongers who are always trying to divide the socieity in the name of religion.    Such people are burden to this world and society.   We should clean our society from such dirt and bad people.   Well done brother.  May God bless you.
