Mangaluru, Jan 9: Mata Amritanandamayi is on a visit to the city to attend the two-day Brahmasthana Mahotsava and Amrita Sangama programmes.

Speaking at the beginning of the Mahotsava, Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari D. Veerendra Heggade said he was impressed by the qualities of Mata Amritanandamayi, who blessed devotees irrespective of their caste, creed or religion, and guided her disciples in the right way. India has the unique tradition of guru-shishya system, he said.

In her address, Mata Amritanandamayi said one should accept with smile whatever comes in life. One should think positively; anger, jealousy and pride make one sick.

Nalin Kumar Kateel, Dakshina Kannada MP; J.R. Lobo, Mangaluru South MLA; and Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, former district Kannada Sahitya Parishat president, were present.

Thousands of devotees have gathered on the mutt premises on Sulthan Bathery Road.

ALLAH is the only GOD who is worthy of Worship
If U dont try to find, what ALLAH says?

Dont live a life of UNAWARE ... Dont fall to the traps of deceivers who play in the minds of the people who are far away from the TRUE CREATOR of all that exists...
TRY to know ALLAH, U will NOT need any intermediatary to reach God in this LIFE. U will have Content in LIFE when we depend on ALLAH.
ALLAH is sufficient for those who TRUST HIM.

Udupi, Apr 8: Six patients were admitted to isolation wards in the hospitals in the district on Tuesday.

While four people were suffering from symptoms of COVID-19, two were suffering from SARI (Severe Acute Respiratory Infection).

As many as 19 samples were collected and sent for Covid-19 testing to a laboratory in Shivamogga.

Kasaragod, Jul 19: An accused in a case registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Prevention) Act (POCSO) killed self minutes before being shifted to the jail on Sunday.

Police sources said the criminal, Shaiju, was admitted to Covid-19 observation ward after he was arrested and remanded to judicial custody after he was charged with a case under POCSO for unnatural sex with a neighbour boy recently.

The accused had made a similar attempt last month but was implicated in a case after his treatment.

Belgaum, Mar 26: The police on Thursday thrashed people who had gone to offer prayers at a mosque despite the nationwide lockdown in force.
In a video, the police personnel can be seen thrashing the people with batons while they were leaving after offering prayers at a local mosque here.
In another incident in Rajasthan's Pratapgarh, the police made few youngsters hop along a road and even gave the 'murga,' punishment to a few of them for violating the restrictions.
Similarly in Uttar Pradesh's Budaun, the police made people hop along a road with their bags strapped on their backs as a punishment. The people were possibly going to their native places.
In the video of the Budaun incident, a few men can be seen being made to hop along the road with a stick-wielding policeman keeping a watch.
SSP Budaun told ANI that an investigation is being conducted into the incident and expressed an apology for the police's behaviour.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced a 21-day countrywide lockdown to check the spread of coronavirus, saying that "social distancing" is the only option to deal with the highly contagious disease.
