Mangaluru, Jan 9: Mata Amritanandamayi is on a visit to the city to attend the two-day Brahmasthana Mahotsava and Amrita Sangama programmes.

Speaking at the beginning of the Mahotsava, Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari D. Veerendra Heggade said he was impressed by the qualities of Mata Amritanandamayi, who blessed devotees irrespective of their caste, creed or religion, and guided her disciples in the right way. India has the unique tradition of guru-shishya system, he said.

In her address, Mata Amritanandamayi said one should accept with smile whatever comes in life. One should think positively; anger, jealousy and pride make one sick.

Nalin Kumar Kateel, Dakshina Kannada MP; J.R. Lobo, Mangaluru South MLA; and Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, former district Kannada Sahitya Parishat president, were present.

Thousands of devotees have gathered on the mutt premises on Sulthan Bathery Road.

If U dont try to find, what ALLAH says?

Dont live a life of UNAWARE ... Dont fall to the traps of deceivers who play in the minds of the people who are far away from the TRUE CREATOR of all that exists...
TRY to know ALLAH, U will NOT need any intermediatary to reach God in this LIFE. U will have Content in LIFE when we depend on ALLAH.

Udupi, July 17: An Indian expatriate from coastal Karnataka who was working in Kuwait passed away in a hospital in the oil-rich country reportedly due to covid-19.

Sheikh Mohammed Syed (54) was a native of Kharvi in Kundapura taluk of Udupi district. He is survived by his mother, wife and three daughters. 

An ex athletic champion from Bhandarkars' Arts & Science College, he was a well-known Volleyball and Kabaddi player in Kundapur.  He was associated with many sports associations in Udupi. 

An employee of KRH firm, he was hospitalized in Kuwait three weeks ago due to ill health. He was tested positive for covid-19.

He breathed his last yesterday without responding to any treatment. Final rites were held in Kuwait. 

Prior to migrating to Kuwait, he had worked in United Arab Emirates for several years. A sports enthusiast, he had trained many athletes in Udupi.

Bengaluru, Jul 1: Faced with increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the State Capital, Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court Justice A S Okha has decided the Court to function online.

Registrar General Rajendra Badamikar, in the notice issued here on Wednesday, based on order of the Chief Justice, stated that the emergency cases will be conducted through video conference until the next order.

The order also specifies that only the principal seat (Bengaluru) will be conducting proceedings online. High Court benches at Dharwad and Kalaburagi will continue to function as usual.

New Delhi, Feb 24: India has deeply appreciated the Senegal government's decision to extradite fugitive gangster Ravi Poojary to India, official sources said on Sunday.

Facilitation of transit provided by the Government of France has also been acknowledged, they said.

Ravi Prakash Poojary, accused of committing a number of serious offences including murder and extortion in multiple jurisdictions, was extradited from Senegal on Saturday.

The probe agencies have persistently pursued the case for his extradition with the authorities in Senegal. India had made a request with Senegal for his extradition in early 2019, sources said.

Poojary was associated with gangster Chhota Rajan, but he also worked for fugitive underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.
