Accused in Deepak Rao murder case are activists of BJP Minority Morcha?

Mangaluru, Jan 4: In a major embarrassment to the local unit of Bharatiya Janta Party, the accused arrested in connection with the cold blooded murder of Deepak Rao, who is being projected as a Bajrang Dal activist, turned out to be the activists of Minority Morcha of the saffron party. 

Bharatiya Janata Party has blamed Popular Front of India, Social Democratic Party of India, and Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai for the murder. However, none of the six persons arrested in connection with the murder that took place at Katipalla in Mangaluru taluk on Wednesday has any connections with the above. 

Mangaluru North MLA Mohiuddin Bava in a press meet on Thursday claimed that Pinki Navaz, one of the main accused in the case, was a known activist of BJP Minority Morcha in the region.

Mr Bava also revealed that during last Karnataka state assembly elections Pinki Navaz had campaigned for local BJP candidate (Krishna J Palemar, who was defeated by Mr Bava). He said that Pinki Navaz’s brother Laden Ismaeel, and brother-in-law Mohammed Ali also were activists of BJP. 

Mr Bava, without naming Mr Palemar, said that an impartial probe is needed to unmask the mastermind behind the murder. He also said that BJP will try to gain the political mileage from this coldblooded murder.  

According to sources, at least three of the arrested and their family members were also supporters of BJP and they had campaigned for the saffron party in previous elections.

Bengaluru, Apr 18: State Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai has stated that there is no need for Dubai Kannadigas to be worried during the COVID-19 crisis.
 
In a statement issued here on Saturday, he said that the State government is with the Dubai Kannadigas and their families residing here in the State, promising that they will not face any problems.
 
Bommai also sought the cooperation of all Dubai-based Kannadiga industrialists and employees in the fight against the virus.

Bengaluru, Jun 18: As many as 210 new COVID-19 cases and 12 deaths have been reported in Karnataka, taking the total cases to 7,944 and death toll to 114, said State Health Department.

Today, 179 persons have been discharged across the State while 4,983 persons have been discharged so far.

The number of total active cases in Karnataka stands at 2,843.

The COVID-19 count in India has reached 3,66,946 on Thursday, according to the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry (MoHFW).

The death toll due to COVID-19 has now reached 12,237. The COVID-19 count includes 1,60,384 active cases, while 1,94,325 patients have been cured and discharged or migrated so far.

Bengaluru, May 1: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Thursday announced Rs 30 lakhs compensation for corona warriors, in case they lose lives while carrying out their duties.

"Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has announced Rs 30 lakhs compensation for Anganwadi workers & assistants, civil workers, and police personnel who die after getting infected by COVID-19 while carrying out their duties," State Chief Minister's Office said in a statement.

According to Union Health Ministry website, a total of 557 cases of coronavirus have been reported in the state so far including 223 cured and 21 deaths.

Meanwhile, With 1,823 new cases of COVID-19 reported in the last 24 hours and 67 deaths, India's total count of coronavirus cases has gone up to 33,610, said the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Thursday.
