Actor Fatima Sana Shaikh trolled for wearing swimsuit during Ramadan

New Delhi, Jun 8: Actress Fatima Sana Shaikh has been shamed on social media for posting pictures of herself in a swimsuit on the beach in Malta, where she is filming Thugs Of Hindostan.fatima

Some of those offended object to the 25-year-old actress for wearing what they say is disrespectful clothing during Ramzan; others have branded it 'besharmi' simply to be seen in beachwear on the beach. "The practicing Muslim can never indulge in such a cheap tactics.

She is a Muslim by her name and not by her doings. So ignore and move on," wrote one hater." To all those who are praising Fatima for this besharmi, I am asking them would you allow your sister to romance with an actor and allow her to wear a bikini in front of the world? I am sure a true would never do that," wrote another.

Some comments defended Fatima's right to wear what she chooses and denounced those seeking to police her wardrobe. "All those people abusing Fatima Sana Shaikh, first change your mind-set," wrote one follower.

Fatima has not yet responded to the trolling. The actress co-stars with Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan, who are also in Malta, in Thugs Of Hindostan, directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya who made Dhoom: 3 with Aamir.

Fatima was cast with Aamir in last year's Dangal, which was tremendously successful with both film critics and audience.

This is not the first time a Dangal actress has been trolled. Earlier this year, 16-year-old Zaira Wasim, who played the younger version of Fatima's character, was attacked on her Facebook page for having met Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti.

Mumbai, Jul 27: Action director Parvez Khan, known for his work in films like Sriram Raghavan's Andhadhun and Badlapur, died on Monday after suffering a massive heart attack. He was 55. 

Parvez, who worked in the industry since 1986, was rushed to Ruby Hospital after he complained of chest pain, his longtime associate Nishant Khan told PTI. "He suffered a major heart attack in the morning. He was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead. He didn't have any health issues but felt chest pain last night," Nishant said.

Filmmaker Hansal Mehta, who worked with Parvez in the National Award winning 2013 drama Shahid, said the action director was extremely skilled. "Just heard that action director Parvez Khan is no more. We had worked together in Shahid where he executed the riots sequence in a single take. Very skilful, energetic and a good man. RIP Parvez. Your voice still rings in my ears," Hansal tweeted. 

Parvez started his career by assisting action director Akbar Bakshi in films like Akshay Kumar's Khiladi (1992), Shah Rukh Khan's Baazigar (1993) and Bobby Deol-starrer Soldier in 1998. It was with Ram Gopal Varma's Ab Tak Chhappan in 2004 that he started working independently and went on to have a long-standing collaboration with filmmaker Sriram Raghavan in films such as Johnny Gaddaar (2007), Saif Ali Khan-starrer Agent Vinod in 2012 and Badlapur, featuring Varun Dhawan. He is survived by wife, son, daughter-in-law and a granddaughter.

New Delhi, Jan 8: Actor Kangana Ranaut on Wednesday applauded director Meghna Gulzar and actor Deepika Padukone for making 'Chhapaak', a film based on acid-attack victims.

Kangana's sister Rangoli Chandel who herself is an acid-attack survivor took to Twitter to share a video of the actor where she is seen extending thanks to Gulzar and Padukone for making a film on the important issue.

"I saw the trailer of the film 'Chhapaak' recently, and after watching it I was reminded of the incident of acid attack on my sister Rangoli. Today, I and my family thank Meghna Gulzar and Deepika (Padukone) that they made a film on this issue. This will give courage to those people who gave up on their life after struggling with it," said Ranaut in the video.

"This film has placed a tight slap on the face of those monsters who succeeded in their act but not in their will. With this film, all those faces will glow that have been spoiled and their courage was broken by these monsters and the beauty of their spirit," the 'Panga' actor said.

Congratulating the team of the film, Kangana added, "I wish that with this New Year the sale of acid gets prohibited so that this country becomes free of acid-attacks. In the end many many congratulations to the team 'Chhapaak'."

The movie is based on the real-life acid attack survivor of Laxmi, who at the age of 15, was attacked allegedly by a spurned lover in 2005. Laxmi had to undergo several surgeries. Later, she took up the job of helping acid attack survivors and promoted campaigns to stop such attacks.

'Chhapaak' is being helmed by Meghna Gulzar and is being co-produced by Deepika and Fox Star Studios. The movie is set to hit theatres on January 10, 2020.

Mumbai, Jul 11: Bollywood veteran Amitabh Bachchan announced on Twitter late on Saturday that he tested positive for the novel coronavirus infection.

Taking to Twitter to announce the news, he said, "I have tested CoVID positive... " He added that family and staff had also undergone tests while Bachchan has been shifted to a hospital. 

Bachchan ended his tweet saying, "All that have been in close proximity to me in the last 10 days are requested to please get themselves tested !"

Bachchan, who was last seen in Gulabo Sitabo that released on OTT platforms, will be seen in Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Bhrahmastra.
