Actor Govinda to pay Rs 5 lakh compensation for slapping fan

New Delhi, Feb 10: Bollywood actor Govinda has offered to pay a compensation of amount Rs 5 lakh to the fan he slapped some years back. The Supreme Court has asked the actor to meet the complainant and apologise over the same, reports suggest.

govindSC has granted him a two weeks time to do the same. According to ANI, the complainant was quoted as saying that he is not satisfied with compensation, and that the actor should meet him first.

In the year 2008, complainant named Santosh Rai was slapped by Govinda, on the sets of his film 'Money Hai Toh Honey Hai' at Filmistan Studio. The actor had reportedly done so because Santosh had entered the sets without any permission and was seen molesting and troubling the extra girls (dancers).

In 2009, Santosh filed a complaint against Govinda on the matter of assault and criminal intimidation in Bombay High Court and in 2013, the Bombay High Court quashed the complaint.

The court observed that there is no material of criminal intimidation in the complaint filed against Govinda and also queried as to why the complaint was filed after a year, making it look like he was instigated to act against the actor.

However, in 2014 Santosh took his case to the Supreme Court.

Chennai, Feb 10: The Income Tax Department on Monday summoned Tamil actor Vijay over charges of tax evasion and his alleged links with financier Anbu Chezhiyan.

The development comes after the IT Department on Friday carried out a raid at the actor's residence in Panaiyur area in Chennai.

IT sleuths held searches in connection with the success of a recent film which was a Box Office hit, collecting around Rs 300 crore.

As per sources, the IT Department on Thursday recovered Rs 65 crores from the residence of Vijay's alleged financer in Chennai during raids which were carried out in the connection with the tax evasion case linked to AGS Cinemas.

Mumbai, Apr 29: Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor is not keeping well and has been admitted to a city hospital here, his elder brother Randhir Kapoor said.

The 67-year-old actor was taken to H N Reliance hospital by his family on Wednesday morning.

"He is in the hospital. He is suffering from cancer and he has some breathing problem, so he has been admitted to the hospital. He is stable now," Randhir told PTI.

The actor returned to India last September after undergoing treatment for cancer in the US for almost a year.

In February, Kapoor was hospitalised twice due to his health issues.

He was first admitted to a hospital in Delhi where he was attending a family function. At the time, Kapoor had said that he was suffering from an "infection".

After his return to Mumbai, he was again admitted to a hospital with viral fever. He was discharged soon after.

Kapoor, who has been quite active on social media, hasn't posted anything on his Twitter account since April 2.

The actor recently announced his next project, a remake of Hollywood film "The Intern", also featuring Deepika Padukone.

Mumbai, Jul 11: Bollywood veteran Amitabh Bachchan announced on Twitter late on Saturday that he tested positive for the novel coronavirus infection.

Taking to Twitter to announce the news, he said, "I have tested CoVID positive... " He added that family and staff had also undergone tests while Bachchan has been shifted to a hospital. 

Bachchan ended his tweet saying, "All that have been in close proximity to me in the last 10 days are requested to please get themselves tested !"

Bachchan, who was last seen in Gulabo Sitabo that released on OTT platforms, will be seen in Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Bhrahmastra.
