Actor Sanjjanaa 'duped of Rs 28L' in chit fund scam

Bengaluru, Aug 20: Kannada actor Sanjjanaa Galrani is among many investors said to be duped by Prasiddhi Chit Funds Pvt Ltd in Malleswaram.

The company is accused of duping investors of Rs 1.3 crore. Sanjjanaa alone is said to have been cheated of Rs 28 lakh. Based on her complaint, the Malleswaram police registered an FIR against the owner of the chit fund on Saturday. Police believe the amount could go up.

Sanjjanaa stated that she had been investing a sum every month in the chit fund for the past several years. The company's staff stopped collecting the money in June. The actor sent her staff to make enquiries and was shocked to learn that the company's office was locked and that its owner, identified as Mahesh, was missing. Numerous other people, too, have lost their hard-earned money, she said in the complaint.

A case of cheating has been registered.

New Delhi, Jul 20: India's COVID-19 case tally crossed the 11 lakh mark with the highest single-day spike of 40,425 new cases and 681 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, informed the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry on Monday.

Total cases in the country now stand at 11,18,043 while the death toll is 27,497.
The Health Ministry said the total number of cases includes 3,90,459 active cases and 7,00,087 patients have been cured/discharged/migrated.

Maharashtra remains the worst affected state with 3,10,455 cases reported until Sunday.
Meanwhile, as per the information provided by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 1,40,47,908 samples have been tested for COVID-19 till July 19, of these 2,56,039 samples were tested yesterday.

New Delhi, May 20: Singer Justin Bieber on Wednesday thanked his Indian fans for showering love on his newly-launched song 'Stuck With U'.

The 26-year-old singer shared a video on Twitter, that featured many Indian music enthusiasts crooning and making their own individual creative videos with the song playing in the background.

In reaction to it, the 'Yummy' singer tweeted: "Thank You India"

Bieber and American singer Ariana Grande teamed up for the song earlier this month to help the people affected and who are in need during the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

The official music video was dropped on May 8. The romantic track marks the first collaboration of the duo.

The music video has cameos by the singer's partners and features many special moments shared by the couple amid lockdown.

New Delhi, Jun 18: Actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas on Thursday paid tribute to the Indian soldiers who were killed in clashes with Chinese troops in Ladakh's Galwan valley.

The 'Fashion' actor who is currently living in America with her singer husband Nick Jonas took to Twitter to extend support to the families of the fallen soldiers.

"My heart goes out to the soldiers and their families. May God give them the strength to cope with this irreparable loss," she tweeted.

Twenty Indian soldiers were killed in a violent face-off with Chinese troops on Monday at Galwan Valley in Ladakh.
