Actress Ramya Barna secretly marries MLA Zameer Ahmed’s relative

Bengaluru, Jul 15: Sandalwood's popular actor Ramya Barna has allegedly married in a hush-hush affair with Fahad Ali Khan, who is two years younger to her, reports media.

It is reported that Ramya and Fahad Ali Khan solemnised their marriage on May 29, 2017 at Shivajinagar's sub-registrar's office. Fahad, as media reported, is the son of JD(S) leader Zameer Ahmed Khan's brother-in-law's nephew. Fahad had dabbled in politics - he had contested in BBMP elections from Jayamahal ward from JD (S).

Former JD(S) leader Zameer Ahemed Khan said that "He was not aware of the marriage and he came to know about it after television channels splashed the news."

There were reports that Ramya's last movie 'Toss' could be her last outing however no reason was cited for this. But now it has turned out that since Ramya had plans to settle down, she had decided to go slow on her movie journey.

'Toss' director Dayal Padmanabhan said that Ramya was not keen to join the film crew in its promotion. "She told me her mother had to undergo a surgery, so she could not be part of the promotion team. However, I wasn't aware of her marriage," Padmabhan said.

As the news broke, Ramya Barna confirmed that she had indeed married Fahad. "My mother was not feeling well so, we registered our marriage in a simple ceremony. However, I will hold a reception for family and colleagues from the industry, once my mother recovers well," said Ramya.

Coorg-born Ramya made her debut as a supporting artiste in 'Hani Hani' in 2008. Later, she acted in Yogaraj Bhat 's hit movie 'Pancharangi' and again went on to bag supporting role in Puneeth Rajkumar starrer 'Hudugaru'. For both the movies, she was nominated for Filmfare for best supporting actress - Kannada. Her Tulu movie, 'Oriyardori Asal' was a massive hit running housefull for 150 days! Ramya's recent movie 'Toss' is ready for release.

Bengaluru, Jun 27: Marijuana or ganja as it is known locally, has emerged as the most peddled and seized drug in Karnataka in the first six months of 2020, a police officer has said, commemorating the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

"As many as 510 ganja cases have been registered, leading to the seizure of 312 kg of ganja in 2020," Central Crime Branch (CCB) Deputy Commissioner of Police Kuldeep Jain told media perrsons on Friday.

Cases and seizures of other drugs paled in comparison to Marijuana. Only one case each has been registered on Brown Sugar, Opium and other drug forms.

Hashish was the only other seized narcotic which weighed more than a kg at 17 kg, rest all were under a kg.

Other banned substances included charas, cocaine and MDMA.

Police also seized 91 papers of LSD and 550 tablets belonging to the Yaba, Restyl, Anxit and Nitrosun category of drugs.

Similarly, 781 Indians and 14 foreigners have been arrested in the drugs cases.

Karnataka Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Director General of Police Praveen Sood and Bengaluru Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao were among the officials who commemorated the event which recognised police staff who cracked drug cases.

"Bommai reaffirmed the pledge to fight against drugs and continue the policy of zero tolerance (of drug abuse)," Joint Commissioner of Police Sandeep Patil said.

Police showcased the seized haul of drugs to Bommai in the past one year, and the minister later rewarded the policemen involved in cracking the drugs cases in Karnataka.

Bommai and the police officials took a pledge to fight drugs on the occasion.

"The Karnataka police has been taking strict action against the drug peddlers while at the same time creating awareness among youth," added JCP Sandeep Patil.

Police also roped in celebrities such as Milana Nagaraj, Darling Krishna and former cricketer Anil Kumble to send across a social message to give up drugs.

Mangaluru, Jul 11: A youth was run over by a lorry after a speeding car knocked his two-wheeler down on Netravati Bridge near Thokkottu on the outskirts of the city today.

The deceased has been identified as Ubaid (28), a resident of Bandikotya in Ullal. According to sources, he was recently engaged and was supposed to get married on July 23.

Shakir, who was with Ubaid on the two-wheeler suffered serious injuries. He was shifted to a private hospital for treatment. 

The car hit the two-wheeler when the two were heading back to Ullal from Mangaluru. 

The impact of the collision was such that Ubaid was thrown on to the road. Within a second a speeding lorry crushed him to death on the spot. 

The car driver sped away after the mishap instead of stopping to help the accident victims. However, local residents chased the car and waylaid it near Thokkotty flyover. 

The car was reportedly driven by Krishna, who works at Someshwar municipality office. He had reportedly purchased the car just two days ago. Police have taken him into custody along with another person who was also on board the car.

Traffic south police have registered a hit-and-run case and investigations are on.

Udupi, Jan 14: The Udupi district police on Tuesday arrested two suspected terrorists at the Indrali railway station in Udupi.

The two, who had reportedly arrived from Kerala at around 6 ap.m., were standing at the Indrali railway station platform.

Suspicious of their behaviour, the police took them to custody and subjected them to interrogation.

According to reports the duo had involved in the murder of Tamil Nadu police Special Sub-Inspector Wilson.

However, top cop of the district has refused to comment regarding the arrest of the youths.
