Advocate Devicharan, son of film producer Devi Prasad, shoots himself dead

Mangaluru, Dec 17: An advocate has shot himself dead with a pistol at Sampaje village in Madikeri taluk of Kodagu district under mysterious circumstances. 

The deceased has been identified as Devicharan (39), son of film producer and writer Deviprasad. 

Devicharan resorted to the extreme step when he was alone at the house last night, sources said. He is survived by his wife and two children. 

A case has been registered at jurisdictional police station and investigations are on.

i think half of the Sampaje village comes under Sullia and half under Madikeri taluk. Am not 100% sure. CD team must clarify.

Belagavi, Feb 25: Left Parties will launch countrywide door-to-door campaign from March 1 to 23 against Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), National Population Register (NPR), National Register of Citizens (NRC), Communist Party of India (M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury said on Tuesday.

Addressing a press conference here, he said that CPI (M) and other Left parties were participating in the awareness programme that will conclude on March 23, on the martyrdom day of Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekar and Rajguru.

"Till now 13 states have expressed their opposition for NRC and will not implement it, which means more than fifty per cent of country will not have it," he added.

New Delhi, Mar 11: In the wake of the ongoing political crisis in Madhya Pradesh, Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy on Wednesday said that Bharatiya Janata Party is using Jyotiraditya Scindia to usurp power in the state and that the former Congress leader has "fallen into the trap."

"#BJP is enacting the strategy the way they did in #Karnataka. It is murder of democracy #JyotiradityaScindia has fallen into the trap. He will realise the himalayan blunder very shortly. BJP after using #Scindia will through (throw) him out. I am confident Shri Kamalnath prove majority," he tweeted.

The Chief Minister's comments came at a time of political turmoil in Madhya Pradesh after Scindia and 22 MLAs resigned from the party on Tuesday.

Scindia is likely to join the BJP today.
