After blue WagonR, volunteer demands AAP logo back

New Delhi, Apr 8: After the famous blue WagonR car that was once the preferred vehicle of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supporter has claimed ownership of the party's logo and demanded it back.

Party volunteer Sunil Lal, who claims to have designed the AAP logo, has asked the party to stop using the same in any form of branding including on stationary, website, handbills, flags, posters etc.

“The logo which I had designed for AAP is my intellectual property ownership of which I had never transferred to the party. Hence, the use of same should be stopped with immediate effect,” Lal wrote in a letter sent to party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal.

Sunil Lal has also asked the party to accept his resignation as primary member.

He said the party has hurt people's sentiments and failed to meet their expectations

Just a few days ago, Kundan Sharma, a software engineer who had donated the blue WagonR to Kejriwal in January 2013, had made the demand that it be returned.

Sharma had later clarified that he actually did not want the car or donation money back, but tweeted the demand to seek the attention of Kejriwal and other top leaders of the party.

Sharma was upset over the ongoing turmoil in the party and had expressed his disappointment over the removal of party leaders Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav.

"Why were Yadav and Bhushan ousted without a probe by the party's Lokpal. I supported AAP not to form government in Delhi, but the aim was to provide an alternate form of government," he had said.

The blue WagonR car had given Kejriwal his image of being a people's chief minister. During his 49-day stint and even after that, Kejriwal used to travel in the same car. He later gave it to Naveen Jaihind, AAP leader from Haryana, who used it for campaigning for Lok Sabha polls in Rohtak.

Lot of evidence to prove that you are a terrorist: BJP to Arvind Kejriwal

New Delhi, Feb 3: Union minister Prakash Javadekar on Monday said Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had called himself an "anarchist" and there is not much of a "difference between an anarchist and a terrorist".

His remarks come a few days after the Election Commission issued a show cause notice to BJP MP Parvesh Verma for allegedly calling Kejriwal a "terrorist".

Addressing a press conference here, Javadekar raked up the issue of Kejriwal "staying a night at the Moga residence of Khalistan Commando Force chief Gurinder Singh during the Punjab Assembly polls".

"You knew it was a militant's house. Still, you stayed there. How much more evidence do you need?" he said.

"Kejriwal is now asking with a sad face, 'am I a terrorist?' You are a terrorist and there is a lot of evidence to prove that. You yourself had said you are an anarchist. There is not much of a difference between an anarchist and a terrorist," the senior BJP leader said.

Flanked by Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari and Union minister Anurag Thakur, Javadekar said the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was supporting Shaheen Bagh, where slogans of "Assam ko azadi", "Jinnah wali azadi" were being raised. "Supporting such slogans is also terrorism".

He alleged that Kejriwal stood with Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), where "anti-India slogans were raised, and did not grant sanction to prosecute (those who raised the slogans)".

"On January 26, you threatened that you would stop their prosecution. How much more proof do you need? The people of Delhi now know that you are the chief of liars, you are an anarchist and sympathise with terrorists.

"You are supporting Shaheen Bagh, JNU, the slogans being raised there and all such anarchists...then you are definitely a terrorist. This is your identity, no matter how innocent face you make," he said.

On Thursday, the Election Commission had issued a show cause notice to Verma, the BJP MP from West Delhi, for allegedly calling Kejriwal a "terrorist".

He was earlier barred from campaigning for 96 hours (four days) for making controversial remarks at a poll meet recently.

An emotional Kejriwal had later said it was for the people of Delhi to decide whether they consider him their son, brother, or a terrorist.

"How have I become a terrorist? I've arranged for medicines...did so much for the needy. I've never thought of myself or my family... am ready to give my life for the nation," he had said at a press conference.

CBSE, ICSE to announce class 10, 12 board exam results by July 15

Jun 26: The Supreme Court on Friday permitted the Centre and the CBSE to cancel the remaining board examinations due to the COVID-19 pandemic and gave the go-ahead for the scheme to award marks to students for the cancelled papers scheduled to be held in July.

A bench of Justices A M Khanwilkar, Dinesh Maheshwari and Sanjiv Khanna permitted the CBSE to issue a notification for the cancellation of the examinations.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the Centre and the CBSE, said that the assessment scheme would consider marks scored by students in the last three papers of the board exams.

Both CBSE and ICSE told the top court that the results of the class X and XII board exams can be declared by the middle of July.

The top court was hearing pleas seeking relief, including scrapping of remaining exams of Class 12 scheduled from July 1 to 15, in view of increasing number of COVID-19 cases. Similar relief was sought by the ICSE Board also.

Kerala reports second COVID-19 death

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 31: Kerala reported its second COVID-19 death after a 68-year-old man being treated for the virus, died at the Government Medical College Hospital here in the early hours on Tuesday.

The victim, Abdul Aziz, a retired ASI hailing from Pothencode here, was admitted to the isolation ward on March 23 with the symptoms of the Corona infection. He was also suffering from lung and kidney diseases.

Though his first test result for COVID-19 turned negative, the second test result confirmed positive, official sources said.

However, it was not known from where he caught the virus infection. leaving chances for a secondary contract of a COVID-19 patient.

His funeral will take place as per the protocol, the sources added.
