Mysuru, Aug 26: Following a directive from chief minister Siddaramaiah, Mysuru district administration has assured a poor Muslim family living in a dilapidated shed on the roadside at Bharatnagar to provide a new house.
Abdul Khader, 70, who has a petty shop, was living with his wife Noor Jahan and three children Thabasum, Sania Banu and Mohammad Saifulla. They live in a shed attached to a shop at Bharatnagar on Mahadevapura Road near the KSRTC Sathagalli depot.
Mohammed Kaleemulla, who travels on this road regularly, saw the family in distress and tweeted about it along with a few photos to CM’s personal twitter handle @siddaramaiah.
Siddaramaiah, who is from Mysuru region, immediately forwarded the message to deputy commissioner D Randeep and directed him to take steps to help the family immediately.
Randeep along with Hanchya gram panchayat officers and elected representatives visited the place and collected details regarding the condition and problems of family members.
Abdul Khader told Randep they had lived in a rented house earlier, but when the house owner forced them to vacate, he and his family had been living in the shed for the past ten years.
After listening to their plight, Randeep assured the family of providing a house under the Ashraya Housing Scheme and discussed the matter with zilla parishad CEO Shivashankar.
Later, Randeep met the family in his office, checked and verified their records and directed officials from the Slum Board and Mysuru City Corporation to provide them accommodation under the housing scheme.
