Aiming to win 22 LS seats, BJP launches 'Mera Parivar BJP Parivar' in Karnataka

Bengaluru, Feb 12: Bharatiya Janata Party today launched its 'Mera Parivar BJP Parivar' Abhiyan in Karnataka and Opposition leader in the Legislative Assembly B S Yeddyurappa, who is also BJP State President, kick started the Abhiyan by sticking BJP flag on his Dollars Colony Residence.

Speaking to newsmen after the launch, Mr Yeddyurappa said that "we have to strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi by winning a minimum of 22 seats of the total 28 in the coming Lok Sabha election. We should work hard to see that Mr Modi continues as Prime Minister even after General Elections."

Yakshagana Bhagvatha Patla Sathish Shetty to receive 'Srusthi Kalabhushan' award

Mangaluru, Jan 24: The Srushti Kala Vidyalaya will be conferring it's 'Srushti Kalabhushan Award' to ace Yakshagana Bhagvatha Patla Sathish Shetty.

The award ceremony will be held at RV Dental College and Hospital in JP Nagar, Bengaluru on February 2, as part of the decennial celebrations of the Vidyalaya.

Chayapathi Kanchibail, founder of the Vidyalaya, said, "The award is being given to Shetty for his services to promote the art of Yakshagana and for his welfare work through the Yakshadhruva Patla Foundation."

Tricolour unfurled at 10,000 mosques across Kerala on R-Day

Kozhikode, Jan 26: The Indian national flag was unfurled at around 10,000 mosques and religious institutions across Kerala on the auspicious occasion of 71st Republic Day on Sunday.

"The national flag was unfurled at around 10,000 mosques across the state on this auspicious occasion as per the instruction of the Waqf Board," Secretary of the Kuttiady Juma Masjid Committee, K Basheer, told media here.

He said that the national flag was also unfurled at the Kuttiady Juma Masjid here as per the instructions.

"Constitution is under threat by the Citizenship Amendment Act, we also read the preamble of the Constitution in solidarity," Basheer said.

Meanwhile, a majestic event was held in the national capital on the occasion of Republic Day.

Man under quarantine after returning from Mumbai kills self in Dakshina Kannada

Mangaluru, May 21: A man who was quarantined in Moodbidri town of Dakshina Kannada after returning from Mumbai has reportedly committed suicide under mysterious circumstances.

The victim has been identified as Dayanand Poojary from Kadandale.

The exact reason for the suicide is not yet known. However, it is suspected that he might have resorted to the extreme step out of fear about COVID-19 and about the means of his future livelihood.

He was admitted to the quarantine facility at Kadandale school around 1 am on Thursday, May 21. Within a couple of hours he ended his life, sources said.

A case has been registered and investigations are on.
