Air India staffer promoted for 'honesty'

New Delhi, Aug 16: National carrier Air India has promoted one of its security personnel out-of-turn for showing exemplary honesty and professional integrity.

This is the first time in the history of the flag carrier that an employee was given out of turn promotion for "honesty", according to Air India.

Subhash Chander, who is presently posted in the security wing of the airline, has been promoted to the rank of officer security for his "exemplary conduct" by the Air India Chairman and Managing Director Aswani Lohani, according to an official statement.

"On August 15, during the pipping ceremony, AI's executive director for security, Alok Singh (IPS) conferred upon Chander stripes of the rank of officer, security," Air India said.

Chander, who is a science graduate and has undertaken several courses in aviation security, had on several occasions returned valuables, cash and belongings left by passengers on aircraft, it said adding, "Chander has returned back valuables left by passengers and in all these cases the passengers were not aware of their misplaced articles till returned to them."

In one such case in June this year, while checking a flight which had arrived from Hong Kong, Chander had found a pouch containing over Rs 5 lakh in foreign currency, which was returned back to the passenger, according to the statement.

On August 25, 2003, gold ornaments left by a Saudi Arabia-bound passenger from Bhopal were returned after being found by Chander, it said.

Chander is serving Air India for the last nearly 29 years, it said.

Honesty is better than sugar quoted bullshit!

This system should be practiced in every department, public and private sectors.

This should be done more for ministers and dishonest should also be punished.

When honesty, justice are recognized, it will motivate to keep maintain its strength.

New Delhi, Apr 9: With an increase of 540 positive COVID-19 cases reported in the last 24 hours, India's tally of coronavirus cases has risen to 5,734, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Thursday.

Out of the 5,734 cases; 5,095 are active COVID-19 cases and 472 cases have been recovered/discharged and one case migrated.
The death toll has also risen to 166 after 17 new deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.

Maharashtra is the worst-hit state 1,135 positive cases so far and while Tamil Nadu is second with 738 positive cases. Delhi's tally has risen to 669 cases.

Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 24: The month of Ramzan will be observed from Friday in Kerala.
The crescent moon was seen at Kappad beach in Kozhikode on Thursday.

Amid nationwide lockdown in the wake of COVID-19, there will be no group prayers at mosques. The devotees have been directed to offer prayers at homes.

Palayam Mosque Imam, VP Suhaib said, "Usually at mosques in Thiruvananthapuram, devotees used to come to break the fast... But this year, amid lockdown, we direct people to prepare food at home and break the fast with family. Also, there will not be group prayers at mosques. People should pray at home."
"Imams and scholars have strictly directed people to observe all Ramzan-related prayers at home. There is no other option... Human life is the most important thing. Only if life exists, belief and religion can exist," he added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had on March 24 announced a 21-day nationwide lockdown as a precautionary measure to contain the spread of COVID-19. Later, the lockdown was extended till May 3.

New Delhi, Jan 22: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has assets worth Rs 3.4 crore, an increase of Rs 1.3 crore from 2015, according to his election affidavit.

Kejriwal's total assets were worth Rs 2.1 crore in 2015.

The cash and fixed deposits of Kejriwal's wife Sunita Kejriwal increased from Rs 15 lakh in 2015 to Rs 57 lakh in 2020.

A party functionary said Rs 32 lakh worth cash and fixed deposits have been received by Sunita Kejriwal as voluntary retirement benefits while the rest are savings.

The cash and fixed deposits of the chief minister increased from Rs 2.26 lakh in 2015 to Rs 9.65 lakh in 2020.

There was no change in the value of immovable assets of his wife while Kejriwal's immovable assets' worth increased from Rs 92 lakh to Rs 177 lakh.

The party functionaries said increase in Kejriwal's immovable assets' worth is due to the increased valuation of the same asset as in 2015.
