AirAsia India offers tickets as low as Rs 600; runs up Rs 26 cr loss in a month

New Delhi, Aug 29: After SpiceJet launched its festive season sale offering tickets at Rs 1,888, the newest entrant into the low-cost carrier space AirAsia India is offering promotional fares starting at Rs 600 on advance tickets booked until 31 August.

Air india faresOn its website, the airline is offering the promotional fares on tickets booked till 31 August to fly between 26 October, 2014 and 24 October, 2015.

As per the offer, one-way tickets from Bangalore to Chennai and Kochi will be available at Rs 600 and fares from Bangalore to Goa will be available at Rs 900.

On the Bangalore to Chandigarh and Jaipur routes fares start at Rs 1,900.

AirAsia India will start operations from 5 September to two new routes from Bangalore: Jaipur and Chandigarh. The airline, which is inducting the second aircraft in its fleet, will start daily flights from Bengaluru to Jaipur, Bengaluru to Chandigarh and vice versa.

However, it turns out that despite starting with just two flights the airline has managed to run up a loss of Rs 26 crore in just a month.

In a statement to the Malaysian stock exchange, the promoter of the airline has said that the airline incurred the loss in the month that it has been operational.

While AirAsia managed to get 80 percent occupancy when it began operations, it has since see the numbers fall to around 69 percent after rivals also launched additional flights on the routes it flies, reports . It will be hoping the new scheme helps it revive occupancy again.

New Delhi, Mar 25: The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in India rose to 562, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday.
This includes 512 active cases, while 40 infected people have already been cured or discharged.
The Union Health Ministry said that total deaths due to the disease now stand at 9, as the second death reported in Delhi is COVID-19 negative. One patient has also migrated due to the infection.
The Central government has taken several steps to contain the rapid spread of the virus including the screening 15,24,266 passengers at the airports.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had on Tuesday announced a 21-day lockdown in the entire country effective from midnight to deal with the spread of coronavirus, saying that "social distancing" is the only option to deal with the disease, which spreads rapidly.
In a televised address to the nation, Prime Minister Modi said that it is vital to break the chain of the disease and experts have said that at least 21 days are needed for it.
The Prime Minister, who had also addressed the nation last week, said the lockdown has drawn a "Lakshman Rekha" in every home and people should stay indoors for their own protection and for that of their families.

Lucknow, Aug 4: Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat on Tuesday left for Ayodhya to attend foundation laying ceremony of Ram Temple tomorrow.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to lay the foundation stone of the Ram temple in Ayodhya on August 5. The construction of Ram temple will begin in Ayodhya after the said ceremony in which various dignitaries from political and religious fields are scheduled to participate.

Bhagwat, along with PM Modi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Governor Anandiben Patel and President of Ram Mandir Trust, Nitya Gopal Das will be present on stage for the event.

Supreme Court, on November 9 last year, had directed the Central government to hand over the site at Ayodhya for the construction of a Ram temple.

The formation of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra Trust was announced on February 5 for the construction of Ram temple at Ayodhya. The Trust has been mandated by the Central government to oversee the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya.

New Delhi, Jun 22: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday left for a three-day visit to Russia. Singh is likely to discuss the India-Russia defence and strategic partnership during the visit and also attend a military parade in Moscow to mark the 75th anniversary of the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany in the Second World War.

The visit comes days after the violent face-off with China in which 20 Indian Armymen were killed in Galwan valley in Ladakh.

"Leaving for Moscow on a three day visit. The visit to Russia will give me an opportunity to hold talks on ways to further deepen the India-Russia defence and strategic partnership. I shall also be attending the 75th Victory Day Parade in Moscow," the Defence Minister tweeted.

Defence Secretary Ajay Kumar is also accompanying the minister.
