A 30-year-old man from Andhra Pradesh, who claims that Bollywood actress and former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is his mother, has urged her to spend rest of her life in her birth place Mangaluru along with him.

According to Sangeeth Kumar who adds Rai after his first name, Aishwarya Rai had given birth to him six years before she took the world by storm by winning the Miss World crown in 1994.

“I was born to her by IVF in London in 1988. I was brought up in Chodavaram from age three to 27. I was with my grandmother Brinda Krishnaraj Rai's family at the age of one and two in Mumbai. My grandfather Krishnaraj Rai died in April 2017 (March), and my uncle's name in Aditya Rai,” Sangeet told media in an interaction in Mangaluru recently.

“My mother got married in 2007 with Abhishekh Bachchan and she is separated, living alone. I want my mom to come and live with me in Mangaluru. It’s already three decades since I separated from my family, I miss her a lot. I don’t want to go to Vishakapatnam, at least I want my mother’s number so that I’ll be free,” he claimed.

“I’m getting enormous headache and anger at my native place, most of my relatives have manipulated things since childhood, otherwise I would have come back to my mother before itself with clear information. Due to lack of information, I could not come to my mother, so now I got all clarity. Ultimate thing is I want my mom,” he continued. However, Sangeeth doesn’t have any documents to prove his claims.

Chikkamagaluru, May 9: Karnataka Minister for Tourism C T Ravi on Friday said that Indians who are stranded abroad are being repatriated into the country on the pre-condition of quarantine.

“The Centre is repatriating Indians who are stranded in around 37 countries, amid the lock-down, of which people from Saudi Arabia and Dubai will be brought via ship for free. These people will have to undergo the mandatory quarantine period once they land in the country,” Ravi told media here.

The government has accorded priority to the elderly and pregnant women during the repatriation process. The state government has held due discussions with the Centre in this regard, he added.

Bengaluru, June 23: Karnataka Congress chief D K Shivakumar has urged his party colleagues to be active on social media to counter the propaganda of Bharatiya Janata Party.

Speaking to media persons, the KPCC president said that no more than 20 out of the 68 Congress MLAs are active on social media.

“All those MLAs who are doing well need to be projected. We want leaders, not mere followers. They all should be the face of Congress in Karnataka. Party should not depend on just my face or Siddaramaiah’s,” he said.

Shivakumar’s diktat has resulted in the party’s social media unit scrambling to get leaders to create their accounts.

“We’re pressuring all the party MLAs and leaders. We’re asking their personal assistants or gunmen to operate their accounts if they are not savvy with social media,” KPCC social media chief A N Nataraj Gowda said.

He pointed out that the 20 MLAs who are active on social media include U T Khader, Dinesh Gundu Rao, Priyank Kharge, Krishna Byre Gowda among others.

“We’re also trying to get the accounts verified of those who are beginning to get active. For example, it was only recently that we got the accounts of S R Patil and Vijay Singh verified,” Gowda said.

Tapping the full potential of social media is crucial for the Congress because the BJP has found much success in reaching out to voters through various online platforms.

In fact, ahead of the 2018 Assembly elections, the Congress found that there were 10 ministers and some 40 MLAs who had turned a blind eye towards social media.

Shivakumar said he was also working on putting in place a system in the party under which all developments related to the state and country will be communicated to all party leaders at 10 am every day.

Bengaluru, Jul 3: Opposition leader in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday opined that there is no other option left but to resort to 'Jail Bharo' agitation to expose the ruling BJP government's indulge in 'Corona Corruption' which runs into more than Rs 2000 crore.

Siddaramaiah said that according to a submission to the Karnataka High Court the government has submitted that it has incurred Rs 3,392 crore expenditure for Corona in the State so far. While the market price for equipment purchased will not exceed Rs 1163 crore and it clearly shows that the corruption is to the tune of Rs 2,000 crore.

Siddaramaiah speaking to a private TV channel here on Friday said the chief minister B S Yediyurappa-led State government should come out with a White Paper on the money spent for purchases made facilities provided to patients.

According to submission to the Court, the Government has purchased 1000 Ventilators by paying Rs 120 crore, while the market price is Rs 40 crores at Rs 4 lakh for each Ventilator. Why is Rs 120 crore more paid, does it not lead to doubt the government's claim. For purchase of kits, mask, gloves etc. it amounted to Rs 1,500 crores but paid by the government was Rs 9,000 crore."
