New Delhi, Jan 28: Bollywood super-star Akshay Kumar is all set to tie up with the Narendra Modi government to guide citizens in financing aid to kin of martyrs. Many people wish to extend financial help but are unaware of whom to contact and how to go about the procedure. The government has come up with a plan to help these willing citizens and have chosen Akshay Kumar to bridge this gap.
The financial aid received from citizens of India will be given to kin of martyred jawans who sacrificed their lives for the nation.
The Home Ministry in partnership with the Bollywood star is planning to create a simple web application. This application will help people to deposit funds directly into the verified bank account of the martyr’s kin. The Home Ministry’s website will display a link to the app. The app will simplify things and will lire more people as brand ambassador will be a known, famous face- Akshay Kumar who will offer it wide publicity.
As reported by TOI, the actor visited the ministry on Friday to discuss the proposal. He held a meeting with home secretary Rajiv Mehrishi and other top brass leaders. The proposal states that each time a central force personnel gets killed in the line of duty, details of his identity, financial status of his family, number of dependents and details of bank account of next of kin etc will be uploaded on the ministry website.
This initiative would let people directly deposit their contributions into the account through the app. The government has fully backed the initiative. To channelise further contributions, the details will be removed from the website once the aggregate contributions reach Rs 15 lakh. Contributions will be eligible for income-tax deductions.
