Bidar, Jun 26: All the six members of a family were killed on Wednesday when the roof of their house in Bidar district in Karnataka collapsed.
The police said that the mud roof of the house collapsed over them while the family was asleep.
According to police sources, the victims had been identified as Nadeem Sheikh, his wife and four children.
Congress MLA from Basavakalyana constituency Narayana Rao visited the mishap site and condoled the deaths.
Mangaluru, May 31: Eminent social worker, former Principal of School of Social Work Dr Olinda Pereira, passed away on Sunday.
She was 95.
Mahatma Gandhi Peace awardee Pereira promoted Women’s Education and Development in several States. She has left an indelible mark in the state of Karnataka, India and overseas.

Chikkamagaluru, Mar 8: A 20 member armed gang barged into a farmhouse at Gudde Thota near Jayapura in Koppa taluk and looted valuables and cash worth about Rs 12 lakh after assaulting the inmates, Police said on Sunday.
According to police, the culprits covered their face with masks and after assaulting watchman they broke open the main door and tied up Vijayaraghav and his wife Asha before robbing the valuables.
The culprits took away Rs 2.5 lakh in cash and valuables worth over Rs 10 lakh.
Chikkamagaluru, Jul 22: Nine staff of the Anti Naxal Force (ANF) in Koppa in the district were tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday.
Health officials said that these people don’t have any contacts outside as they were in the forest buffer zone. Now efforts were being made to find out how they contacted the Coronavirus.
Meanwhile, the Kalsa police station has been sealed down after four of its personnel tested positive.
