Hyderabad, Aug 15: Allu Arjun will be releasing a social awareness short film, I Am That Change, on Independence Day, which is directed by Tollywood director Sukumar.
The film deals with everyday social issues that involve all of us, like a person talking on the phone while driving, trying to bribe the cops, a boy littering on the roads and realising his mistake, and a star bypassing a security check and realising that he should not get preferential treatment.
Allu Arjun, who has played two characters in his first short film, says, “When I saw some ads regarding social awareness, I felt that they would not be able to reach out to people properly. I thought that if an actor made the same it would reach a wider audience. Another reason for making the film is that many freedom fighters have sacrificed their lives for our generation and today we are enjoying freedom because of their sacrifice. I wanted to pass this message to next generation.”
In the process, Allu Arjun realised short films are tough to make. He adds, “A person like me, who has a big production house with the entire infrastructure, faced difficulties making this short film. I can now imagine the passion that many short filmmakers have. I bow down to their passion.”
He wanted to release “this film with a good cause on a good day” and found August 15 apt.
