Moodbidri, Nov 30: “Our expectations from the education system have entirely gone wrong owing to a number of factors. When the entire world respects and seeks to follow our culture, our own education system and even guardians tend to underestimate the power of it. It is time everyone stops forcing the students to be machines, and the education institutions stop being just printing presses for marks cards,” said Nachiket Nayak from Government Composite High School, Olakaadu Udupi.

He was delivering the valedictory address of Vidyarthi Siri 2017, which was organised in association with Alva’s Nudisiri. He spoke addressing a gathering of nearly 10,000 at the Rathnakara Varni Vedike on 30th of November.

“Students must stop labelling our authentic and native practices in English terms. When Bhootaradhane and Nagamandala are loosely coined as devil worship and snake worship, the essence of Indian culture are lost. Kannada has always been abundant space for any form of expression, and hence expressing our native aspects in English terms is absolutely unnecessary. Kannada has neither restricted nor been an obstacle to any form of accomplishment,” Nachiket added.

Concluding Alva’s Vidyarthi Siri for the day, the president of the event, Arjun Shenoy from SDM Pre-University College Ujire said “Our dimension of reading has changed from reading literature to reading social media posts. However, there is always hope as long as students like ourselves take initiatives to be a part of literary and cultural events like Alva’s Nudisiri. Notions such as ‘youngsters do not take interest in literature’ cannot be generalized whatsoever. There is still a thirst in us to understand our culture, and also a sense of responsibility to take it forward. We shall always remain culturally oriented.”

Andaru Gunapala Hegde, one of the Vice Presidents of the Welcome Committee of Alva’s Nudisiri was present during the occasion. Vidyarthi Siri 2017 was called a close with a melody named ‘Varshotsava’, directed by Mayur Ambekal and presented by the music team of Alva’s. Special attractions were Amogh Hegde and Atharv Hegde, who created pieces of arts on canvases during the song. Ankitha Bhat from Rotary English Medium School mastered the ceremony, while Yashasvi D from Vitthal Jaycees English Medium School welcomed the gathering and Amulya from Rotary English Medium School Moodubidre rendered the vote of thanks. Valedictory ceremony of Alva’s Vidyarthi Siri marked the end of the students’ fair within Alva’s Nudisiri.

Inauguration of Vidhyarti Siri-2017

Moodbidri, Nov 30: “Development of students on humanitarian and disciplinarian grounds is more vital as compared to academic growth. Events like Alva’s Nudisiri are a wonder owing to the extent of efforts that go into inculcating this required discipline and cultural sense in students. These are attempts that connect the modern generation to its roots. Through which, the students can be turned into protectors of the grand Indian culture for generations to come,” stated the popular theatre personality of Karnataka, Mandya Ramesh.

He was addressing the gathering as the inaugurator of ‘Alva’s Vidhyarti Siri 2017’ on Thursday, at Ratnakaravarni Vedhikhe, Vidyagiri.  Alva’s Vidyarthi Siri is being conducted in association with Alva’s Nudisiri, which is an exclusive students’ literary and cultural conference. The inaugural began with a cultural procession that began from the entrance of Vidyagiri and approached the stage. An audience of nearly 8,000 people witnessed the event.

Vidyarthi Siri was inaugurated after a grand procession that brought the guests to the dais. Escorted by the Chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation Dr.M.Mohan Alva, the Chief Guest Mandya Ramesh and the President of Vidyarthi Siri, Arjun Shenoy graced the stage. Cine Siri, a film festival in association with Nudisiri which shall take place for four days at the Puttana Kanagal Vedike was also inaugurated by Mandya Ramesh.

“India has a problem of population explosion. But more than the issues caused by that, the severe dearth of educational institutions that can connect students to their roots has caused a lack of discipline and culture in the youth. There is a desperate need for students to comprehend and adhere to the essence of their origins, which will instil in them all the patriotism and discipline we need,” he added.

Alva’s Vidyarthi Siri Awards, special recognitions for achievers in the various fields were also awarded in the occasion. In the literary and cultural category, Murali Kadekar from Udupi was felicitated with the award. In the academic category, Vivekananda Vidhyavardhaka Association of Puttur was awarded the Vidyarthi Siri Award. In the category of child prodigy, Vamshi Rathnakumar from the Drama Juniors fame was felicitated for her extraordinary talent.

Special felicitation to representatives from excellent Kannada medium schools from Kasargod district was a unique aspect of the event. The felicitated schools were S.P.A High School from Kumbdaje Agalpady, B.E.M.H.S from Kasargodu, G.H.S Uduma, and Government High School from Udyavara.

Answering to the felicitation, Shreemurali Kadekar stated “Kannada medium schools in Karnataka are indeed under a pathetic condition. It would be best if all schools adopted extra curriculum as a vital aspect for the holistic development of students.”

Addressing the gathering, the Chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation and the Convenor of Alva’s Nudisiri, Dr. M Mohan Alva said “Students must necessarily deliberate their focus on constructive ideas, and never even incline towards social evils. It is a major challenge to develop students in ways through which they shall be highly resourceful for the country. Events such as Nudisiri are conducted in great hopes that this very challenge will be accomplished appropriately.”

Dr.Alva also made a reference to visitors from Bhutan, Member of the Bhutan Parliament Tshering Dorji and his team who have voluntarily arrived to Alva’s Nudisiri and expressed a willingness to display their art. There are also teams from all around the country and Sri Lanka whose art forms will be witnessed during Alva’s Nudisiri.

Arjun Shenoy, a student of SDM Pre-University College Ujire delivered his presidential remarks post the inaugural proceedings. “It is the need of the hour for students like ourselves to shoulder the responsibility of protecting Kannada literature and culture. When the rest of the state shall now, at the end of November, lay down their red-and-yellow flags and let go of their patriotism for the state; we shall take up the responsibility. The languages and cultures from the west that we tend to follow were still cradling children whilst Kannada ruled its kingdom. The intensity of Kannada is more than we realise today.”

“Children are best provided primary education in Kannada. Modernism in Kannada literature must be welcomed with open arms. The Kannada academic sector requires much more attention. It is not true that modern English education produces resourceful individuals. Parents must let go of this prejudice, and encourage their children to pursue understanding of Kannada heritage,” he added.

A poetry collection ‘Shades’ of Sannidhi T Rai Perla from Chinmaya Vidyalaya from Kasargod, and an essay collection ‘Na Kanda Kanasu’ by Ananya Belthangady from SDM Pre-University College Ujire were released at the occasion.

The inaugural was followed by a unique talent show by Manuja Nehiga, a 4th standard student of Alva’s Kannada Medium School who displayed 10 of his talents in 10 minutes. His performances included magic show, playing the harp, rhythm pad, drums, harmonium, keyboard, singing, Bharatnatyam, Yakshagana and more. A series of literary conferences conducted and chaired by students themselves, followed the inaugural.

A special reference was made to Late Harish Bhat, a scientist who recently passed away. Hamsa, the daughter of Harish Bhat was handed a sum of two lakh rupees and a promise of consistent support from Alva’s.

Alva’s Vijnanasiri

Nudisiri has also organised ‘Vijnana Siri’, a science fair in memory of Late Harish Bhat which was later inaugurated by HamsaVijnana Siri is an exhibition of 100 science models, which include satellite models of from ISRO, 2 models of INSEF, Bio-diesel model from Nitte Institute of Engineering, and 15 models designed at Alva’s. The science fair will be accessible to the public for 4 days. Alva’s Nudisiri will be a plethora of numerous fairs like this one, each of them accessible to every visitor.  Alva’s Education Foundation Managing Trustee of Vivek Alva, Narayan Aiyer from Science Society of India, and the Senior Project Assistant from ISRO – Sadashivan were present among others.

Bengaluru, Aug 2: Bengaluru based Centre for Advanced Research and Development (CARD), the research wing of organisation De scalene has come up with a device called "SHYCOCAN" (Scalene Hypercharge Corona Canon) which neutralizes the coronavirus.

Speaking to news agency Dr Rajah Vijay Kumar, Chairman, Organisation De Scalene said that the device will not kill any bacteria or fungus, however, neutralizes the coronavirus particles.

"The device was tested for its safety and efficacy and is soon going to be manufactured and marketed in the US under the Enforcement Discretion policy of USFDA and in Europe as the device is CE compliant and is CE marked," said Kumar.

He also added the device will cover a volume of 10,000 cubic feet.

The device Scalene Hypercharge Corona Canon (SHYCOCAN) is intended to be used in the residential, industrial and commercial environment and is designed for active containment by attenuation of Corona family of viruses. (Laboratories de Especialidades Immunological S.A. de C.V, Virucidal Activity concludes 99.9 per cent virus elimination), Kumar asserted.

"SHYCOCAN operates on regular 110/240V - 50/60 Hz wall socket and is a plug and play device, that delivers the necessary signals to a photon mediated electrons emitters (PMEE), that produces hypercharge high-velocity electrons by photon mediation that interacts with the negative seeking S-protein of Corona family of viruses thus reducing infectivity and prevent air and surface borne transmission of corona family of viruses," said Kumar.

The device does not use any chemicals, or any other consumables and does not produce harmful ozone gas or any other substances and is completely safe for use in any environment, he added.

"The attack mechanism of the Virus starts with the initial attachment of the virion to the host cell, it is initiated by interactions between the S-protein and its receptor on the "negative" cell membrane. The sites of receptor binding domains (RBD) within the S1 region of a coronavirus S-protein vary depending on the virus.

The S-protein/receptor interaction is the primary determinant for a coronavirus to infect a host species and governs the tissue tropism of the virus. However, the end result is the fusion and release of the viral genome into the cytoplasm," said Kumar.

He continued saying that the counter mechanism by the device SHYCOCAN is that if negative seeking is the guidance mechanism of the S- Protein, attracted by the transmembrane potential of the host cells, then breaking this mechanism would block the Coronavirus infectivity and spread.

"The device has been in use for more than a year at the S-CARD campus, the headquarters of Scalene," said Kumar.

Bidar, Feb 15: Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Siddaramaiah on Friday demanded the State government to withdraw the sedition case against a mother and a teacher of Shaheen school immediately.

“The police can’t execute anything without the government’s permission. The sedition case against two women should be withdrawn immediately. I will raise the matter in the Assembly to draw the government’s attention,” Siddaramaiah told reporters after meeting the woman at the prison here.

He clarified that he visited the woman not to support the school, but to extend moral support to her.

“I am an advocate and I can clearly establish based on my experience that staging a satirical play doesn’t amount for sedition. It doesn’t even defame anybody. Three cases of sedition have been registered across the state,” he charged.

He alleged that the government was following dual policy. Though the Supreme Court had concluded that the demolition of Babri Masjid was illegal, a play dealing with the demolition was staged at Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat’s school.
The sedition case had not been registered for staging the play.

He charged that there was an undeclared emergency in the country as the freedom of expression was being suppressed.
