Amit Shah's election strategy won’t be successful in Karnataka: CM

Kalaburagi, Aug 13: Attacking BJP’s national president Amit Shah and other leaders for their election strategy for the next Assembly election, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah remarked that the party’s “divisive policy” would not work in Karnataka.

He was speaking after laying the foundation stone for Mini Vidhana Soudha at Aland town, Kalaburagi district, here on Sunday. He also inaugurated several development programmes at a cost of ₹101.58 crore.

Expressing confidence in Congress retaining power in the next Assembly elections, Mr. Siddaramaiah said the BJP would not win more than 50 seats, as their election won’t work. “Why has the BJP failed in Punjab, Goa and Manipur?” he asked.

Listing out the state government’s various welfare programmes, including Anna Bhagya and Ksheera Bhagya, he said: “ People of Karnataka won’t forget all this. They will surely bless us (Congress) again.”

He said that B.R.Patil, who recently joined the Congress, would win in the next Assembly election. It is because of him that the Mini Vidhana Soudha was sanctioned in Aland, he added.

Bengaluru, May 4: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has said that the free bus service for migrant workers has been extended by two days in the state.
 
The service was supposed to end on Tuesday, but it has now been extended till Thursday.
 
The Chief Minister has appealed to workers and other people that they can return to their hometowns without having to gather in large numbers at bus stops.
 
He said, "951 KSRTC buses on Sunday were provided in the state for the travel of migrants. About 1,500 passengers have already gone in 50 busses."
 
On Saturday, an estimated 16,500 passengers in 550 buses left for their homes.
 
On Monday two trains will leave for Rajasthan and Bihar, the Chief Minister said.
 
He said in a press release that everyone will be provided with free meals and water before the journey.

Mangaluru, Jul 2:  A seven-day old baby boy was tested positive for Covid-19, Health Department officials said on Thursday.

The infant is currently undergoing treatment at a designated Covid Hospital here. The baby was born at a private hospital in the city last week. 

According to the officials, it was not known as to how the newborn contracted the infection.

Mangaluru, May 9: Dakshina Kannada District Collector Sindhu B Roopesh on Friday held a meeting to discuss the precautionary measures to be taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and the current situation in the district.

The meeting was attended by Member of Parliament and Karnakata BJP unit chief Nalin Kumar Kateel, Minister-in-charge of Dakshina Kannada Kota Srinivasa Poojary, MLA Vedavas Kamath and District Medical Officer Dr Ramachandra Bauri among others were present there.

Top officials of the police department, labour department officials and other concerned persons were also present in the meeting.
