Hassan, Jun 5: Hardline Hindutva leader Anant kumar Hegde will soon receive at least 1,000 pieces of langotis for calling the Janata Dal (Secular) a ‘Putgosi Paksha’ (langoti or loincloth party).

Coming down heavily on Congress-JD(S) coalition government in Karnataka, Mr. Hegde, who is also Uttara Kannada BJP MP and Union Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, had described JD(S) as a ‘putgosi pakasha’ recently.

Condemning his remarks, the JD(S) launched a ‘Putgosi Chalavali’ (langoti campaign) yesterday and posted several pieces of loincloths to his residence.

“We will send at least 1,000 pieces of loincloth to his residences, at his native place and in Bengaluru, and his offices in Delhi and in his constituency,” the JD(S) activists said.

All channel reporters should ask this hate monger to give a pose in one of the Langot he received from his well wishers.   He should also be asked if he has distributed the remaining longotes amongst his relatives and party workers includes women.

Sending langotis to his residence is not sufficient. He should wear langotis during his hat speach.

Mangaluru, Feb 17: Kambala superstar Shrinivas Gowda, who is drawing comparisons to ace sprinter Usain Bolt, has reportedly refused to take part in athletics trials with the Sports Authority of India.

28-year-old Gowda, who hails from Moodbidri in Dakshina Kannada, was celebrated as a potential Olympian after a clip of his race went viral, amid claims that he had done 100m in 9.55 seconds, against Bolt's record of 9.58. He has so far won 32 medals in 11 kambala events this season.

Union sports minister Kiren Rijiju and SAI said Gowda would appear for trials at SAI's Bengaluru centre on Monday. The government "will do everything to identify sporting talents", Rijiju had tweeted.

"I will meet the Chief Minister. I am keen on continuing in kambala," Gowda said. Asked about the clamour for a crossover into athletics, he said, "For the time being I have no plans to appear for SAI trials. I am busy with the Kambala season and will consider meeting them following that and after consulting my well-wishers."

Kasaragod, Feb 17: A Kerala Muslim couple conducted the wedding of their Hindu foster daughter at a Bhagavathi temple in Kerala, scripting another tale of communal harmony at Kasaragod.

The wedding ceremony was held on Sunday.

The woman Rajeshwari tied the knot with Vishnu Prasad in the presence of family and friends belonging to both Hindu and Muslim communities.

Abdulla and Khadeeja adopted Rajeshwari after her father who worked at Abdulla's farm died. Rajeshwari's mother also passed away when she was a child.

Rajeshwari grew up alongside Abdulla and Khadeeja's three sons- Shameem, Najeeb and Shereef.

Earlier in January this year, cutting across the lines of religion, a mosque in Kerala's Kayamkulam hosted a Hindu marriage ceremony.
