Bengaluru, Apr 19: Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy on Wednesday directed IGP (Eastern range) Sharat Chandra to conduct a probe into an incident wherein a truck hit Union Minister Anant kumar Hegde’s convoy in Haveri.
Hegde had claimed that it was a deliberate attempt on his life, while the BJP leaders demanded a thorough probe into the incident. State BJP general secretary Shobha Karandlaje claimed that it was an attempt by jihadi elements to kill the Union minister.
Yadgir, Jan 21: A bag was found abandoned at the Yadgir Bus Stand on Tuesday morning that left the commuters in panic.
After receiving the information, a police team, along with a sniffer dog, rushed to the spot. When the bag was checked, the police found clothes and cash in it.
It is stated that a passenger might have left the bag in a hurry to catch the bus.
Mangaluru, Feb 26: Customs officials at Mangalore International Airport on Wednesday arrested a man for trying to smuggle gold worth over Rs 26 lakh by concealing it in his rectum.
The accused has been identified as Moideen Arzan, a resident of Uppala, Kasaragod.
According to police, he arrived from Dubai by an Air India flight and was attempting to smuggle the gold which he had converted in the form of paste and concealed in rubber capsules inside his rectum.

Mysore, Apr 1: A team of the state Health Ministry on Monday visited the pharmaceuticals company whose several employees were tested positive for COVID-19.
The team asked the remaining employees to stay under quarantine in separate rooms.
"The department is investigating whether this company has got any connection with China or received any object which might have brought coronavirus with it," said Jawaid Akhtar, principal secretary of the health department.
Karnataka Health Minister on Wednesday confirmed that the current COVID-19 positive cases in the state stood at 101.
According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of COVID-19 positive cases have reached 1,637 in India, including 1,466 active cases, 133 cured/discharged/migrated people and 38 deaths.
