Bengaluru, Apr 19: Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy on Wednesday directed IGP (Eastern range) Sharat Chandra to conduct a probe into an incident wherein a truck hit Union Minister Anant kumar Hegde’s convoy in Haveri.
Hegde had claimed that it was a deliberate attempt on his life, while the BJP leaders demanded a thorough probe into the incident. State BJP general secretary Shobha Karandlaje claimed that it was an attempt by jihadi elements to kill the Union minister.
Kalaburagi, Jan 21: A team of bomb disposal squad along with sniffer dog visited Kalaburagi Railway Station on Tuesday morning.
In the wake of the bomb found at Mangalore Airport on Monday morning, the team visited the railway station as a precautionary measure.
Newsroom, Apr 23: During the ongoing lockdown in India so as to break the chain of Coronavirus infection, Islamic scholars across India are appealing Muslims to stay indoors and observe fasting with steadfastedness in the blessed month of Ramadan.
They have urged the people to offer taraveeh and other Namaz at homes, do iftar at home and enjoy with one's family only.
During Ramadan, social distancing would be of utmost importance in order to contain the disease, they urged.
Shahi imams of Jama Masjid and Fatehpuri Masjid in the city have also appealed to Muslims to offer namaz during the holy month of Ramadan at home and follow lockdown guidelines to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Udupi, Jun 9: A Mesolithic site has been discovered at Iduru-Kunjadi in Kundapura taluk of Udupi district of Karnataka by Prof T Murugeshi, Associate Professor of Ancient History and Archaeology at MSRS College, Shirva.
Prof Murugeshi said on Tuesday that the site is near a rock art site of the Mesolithic period that was unearthed. It is located in the Mookambika Wildlife Reserve Forest. At Iduru-Kunjadi, the finds of Mesolithic tools are characterised by blades, scrapers, burine, fluted cores, arrow-heads and flakes of the non-geometric pattern.
He said that though the site was found two years back, it took time to study and identify them. They resembled the tools found in a stratified context at Uppinangady on the Netravati basin, he added.
