Anitha and Kumaraswamy declare total assets worth Rs. 167.31-cr

Bengaluru, Oct 16: Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and his wife Anitha Kumaraswamy have declared total assets worth Rs. 167.31 crore.

The assets and liabilities affidavit filed by Ms. Anitha on Monday for the Ramanagaram byelection showed the couple owning assets to the tune of Rs. 167.31 crore, including nearly Rs. 43 crore of movable and immovable assets belonging to the CM.

A comparison with Ms Anitha’s affidavit and the affidavit filed by Mr Kumaraswamy on April 21 shows a difference of Rs. 21 lakh. However, their liabilities have come down by nearly Rs. 9 crore — from Rs. 104.87 crore, including Rs. 2.94 crore for the CM, to Rs. 96.93 crore, which includes Mr. Kumaraswamy’s liability of Rs. 2.97 crore.

Mr. Kumaraswamy had declared his and Ms. Anitha’s total assets to be worth Rs. 137.8 crore in 2013, with liabilities of Rs. 62.12 crore.

Ms. Anitha has declared herself an entrepreneur involved in the business of petroleum products and film production. She has made investments to the tune of Rs. 68.72 crore in Kasturi Media Pvt. Ltd., which runs Kannada channels. Her movable possessions, besides cash, investment and jewellery, include a Harley Davidson bike.

Her opponent and BJP candidate L. Chandrashekar has declared total assets of Rs. 10.20 crore.

Karnataka stops covid-19 testing for asymptomatic international travellers

Bengaluru, May 28: The Karnataka government has done away with previously mandatory COVID-19 testing for asymptomatic international travellers.

The development comes a day after the government issued a circular, which allowed placing of international travellers into home quarantine if they had completed seven days of institutional quarantine.

A circular signed by Jawaid Akhtar, Additional Chief Secretary to the State Government, dated May 27, says that any “person who has completed seven days of institutional quarantine and is asymptomatic can be permitted for home quarantine with a COVID-19 test (RT-PCR), subject to undergoing a medical check-up.”

This check-up equates to thermal screening (with a required temperature of under 37.5C or 99.5F and pulse oximetry of under 94%).

The circular added that all elderly people, over the age of 60, and those with comorbidities (such as Diabetes mellitus, hypertension, asthma, heart ailment, renal disease...etc) are “required to be clinically evaluated diligently prior to shifting them for quarantine.”

On Wednesday, Pankaj Pandey, Commissioner, the Department of Health and Family Welfare said that these new guidelines were based on recommendations from the COVID Task Force. A member of the COVID Task Force said that new strategies had been formulated based on the latest findings on how the SARS-Cov-2 virus affects people.

Muslim Committee drops Jan 4 anti-CAA protest plan as cops refuse permission

Mangaluru, Jan 2: The Muslim Central Committee of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi has dropped its plan to stage a massive protest against the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Act and National Register of Citizens on January 4 at Mangaluru’s Nehru Maidan.

Addressing a press conference here today, committee chief K S Mohammed Masood made this announcement.

“All the 28 organisations that had decided to stage protest under the leadership of the Muslim Central Committee, have unanimously agreed to temporarily cancel the protest plan after the city police refused permission for the event,” he said.

Mr Masood requested the people, especially the youth, not to lose patience. “No one should head to Nehru Maidan on January 4 as Muslim leaders have unanimously decided to cancel the protest,” he urged.

S M Rasheed Haji, Y Abdulla Kunhi, Umar UH, Ibrahim Kodichal, B M Mumtaz Ali, Khasim H K, Mansoor Ahmed Azad and Asif Deals were present in the press meet.

Secondly, a few days back I wanted to contact Muslim central committee office to confirm if the protest Wil be there. I googled for the no, but the no. did not exist. Does that mean the Muslim central committee does not have an office or telephone no????

This only shows how organised we are.

Requesting Muslim central committee to get their house in order. Get more professional. Also consult people to utilise various platform to responsibly collect funds from so many ordinary bearys who want to donate money, but don't know whom to send it to.

We need an action committee to handle such situations. It must consist a battery of lawyers to fight the cases filed by the police.

If our leaders are old, they need to groom new leaders into the committee.

Moreover, it is important to question these so called leaders about their fecilitation program conducted for making kateel wen he won the election. Wat was the purpose of such fecilitation. Becoz I don't think he gives a damn when our community suffered. I question, whether all this is done in our name only to gain your contact and flourish ur business???

Cops seizes 1000 fake N95 masks, probe underway

Bengaluru, Mar 31: Bengaluru Central Crime Branch on Tuesday seized as many as 1,000 fake N95 masks amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

However, the police are yet to make arrests in the case.

Investigation in the case is underway and more details in this regard are awaited.

Recently, Noida Sub-Divisional Magistrate with a team from the Health department busted a fake sanitiser and mask factory.

Notably, the Central government recently had brought masks and hand sanitisers under the Essential Commodities Act up to June 30 as the novel coronavirus pandemic led to shortages and black marketing of these items.

Any person found guilty under the Act may be punished with imprisonment up to seven years or fine or both and can be detained for a maximum of six months.
