Another AAP MLA arrested by Delhi police

New Delhi, Jul 31: The Delhi police has arrested one more MLA of Aam Aadmi Party. This time Narela MLA Sharad Chauhan was picked up by a Special Investigating Team probing the suicide of a woman.

aapJoint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav confirmed the arrests and added that details about Mr. Chauhan's specific role will be shared later.

Chauhan is one of the seven persons arrested in connection with the death of an APP volunteer Soni, who consumed poison on July 19. He is the 11th AAP MLA to be arrested by the Delhi police.

Her family members had claimed that she had gone into depression after Bhardwaj, her alleged molester and a party colleague, was released on bail.She had alleged that the accused was being protected by the local MLA.

The woman had filed a complaint against Bhardwaj for allegedly touching her inappropriately and a case of molestation was registered in June.

Soni, the mother of two daughters, had left behind a self-shot WhatsApp video in which she claimed, "I was denied justice".

According to police, the woman in her video clip accused Bhardwaj, Amit Kumar and Rajni Kanth of torturing her to withdraw a sexual harassment complaint she filed against Bhardwaj on June 2.Wadhwa was arrested on June 3 but granted bail the very next day.

On July 20, the Delhi Police had registered a case of abetment to suicide and handed over the entire matter to a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to be headed by Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch).

There are many politicians have been elected from many states to Parliament and Assembly but no one has been arrested or put them behind bar like the way modi government is treating Delhi government, what a tragedy....if politicians who work selflessly will not have place in Indian politics....

Bengaluru, Jun 12: Karnataka on Saturday reported 209 discharges, as the state confirmed 308 new cases of COVID-19 and three related fatalities, taking the total number of infections to 6,824 and the death toll to 81.

With the 14 new cases, the total number of covid cases in Udupi district alone today reached 1005. Dakshina Kannada today reported 30 cases and the tally mounted to 263. 

Today highest cases were reported from Kalaburgi (67), followed by Yadgir (52), Bidar (42) and Bengaluru Urban (31). More details to follow.

Udupi, July 20: A youth, who was under depression after his business came to a halt due to lockdown, has killed self in Kundapura taluk of Udupi district. 

The deceased has been identified as Nitish Shetty (31), son of Prabhakar Shetty, a resident of Giliyaru in Kota area of Kundapura. 

Shetty was running a secondhand car business in Bengaluru. The business had completely stopped due to covid-19 lockdown. 

After returning to his hometown, he could not find any other job. Hence he was under depression. Hence on July 18 he handed himself to death in his house, police said. 

A case has been registered at jurisdictional Kota police station.

Bengaluru, Jul 4: With the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in Bengaluru, the state government has decided to impose a total lockdown in Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) limits.

The lockdown will start from 8 pm today till 5 am on Monday. The sale of essential items will only be allowed during the total lockdown.

"Complete lockdown to be imposed from 8 pm today till 5 am on Monday in Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) limits, as per instructions by Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa in view of COVID-19," BBMP Commissioner Anil Kumar said on Saturday.

"Sale of essential items will be allowed during the lockdown, including meat shops. Police action will be taken against people found roaming outside unnecessarily," he said.

With the number of cases increasing by 994 in the last 24 hours, the total of cases in the city now stands at 7,713. Of these, 6,297 are active cases.

So far, Karnataka has 19,710 cases with 293 deaths. While 8,805 people have recovered from the deadly virus.

At the national level, the total number of cases have now surged to 6, 48,315 out of which 3, 94,227 patients have recorded, while 18,655 have lost their lives.
