Another Kasaragod youth reportedly killed in drone strike in Afghan

Kasaragod, Aug 1: Another Kerala resident, who along with 20 others is suspected to have fled to Afghanistan last year, was killed in a “drone strike,” a senior NIA official said.

He was quoting a message received by the father of the victim.

Mohammad Marwan, a resident of Kasargod in Kerala was among a group of women, men and children who mysteriously disappeared from the south Indian state.

NIA had claimed that the missing persons made their way to the Khorasan province in Afghanistan via Iran to be a part of the IS controlled territory.

Earlier, three other members of the group - Bestin Vincent, Mohammad Hafeezuddin and Murshid Mohammad - were reportedly killed in drone attacks.

On Monday, Marwan’s father recieved a message from Ashfaq Majeed, another accused in Afghanistan that “Marwan has been killed in drone strike and it has been few days.” The message was sent on Telegram.

Smoke enters wards at hospital following short circuit in UPS room

Bengaluru, Feb 10: Smoke entered wards at Sagar Hospital following a short circuit in the UPS room, said the fire department here on Sunday.

"Smoke entered wards at Sagar Hospital in Bengaluru, following a short circuit in the UPS room at the hospital today. Patients have been shifted from the site of the incident, as a precaution," the fire department in Bengaluru said.

"No fire incident reported and the situation is under control now," the fire department said.

Women’s satyagrah, human chain mark Martyrs’ Day in Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Jan 30: A day-long ‘satyagrah’ by women followed by formation of human chain marked the Martyrs’ Day, the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, in Mangaluru.

The organisers were ‘We, the People of India’, whose sole intention was to safeguard constitution of India and raise voice against those to attack the constitution.

Amidst nationwide agitation by ‘We, the People of India’ against contentious CAA, NRC, the women of Manglauru have decided to hold satyagrah and form a human chain in front of the office of the Deputy Commissioner in the heart of the city on January 30.

The Satyagrah commenced at 10 a.m. At 4:30 p.m. a human chain will be formed. At 5.17p.m. when the father of the nation was gunned down 72 years ago during his evening prayer at Birla House by Godse, the demonstrators raised the slogan of unity to defeat the ideology of Godse.

Karnataka Bandh: Stones pelted on Tirupati-Mangaluru bus in Farangipet

Mangaluru, Feb 13: After pro-Kannada outfits called for a state-wide bandh today, the police are on high-alert to avoid any untoward incidents.

The dawn to dusk bandh was called demanding implementation of Sarojini Mahishi report which recommended certain percentage of jobs to Kannadigas in private & public sector companies.

There is no official holiday declared for schools and colleges. Besides, all government institutions and private establishments are open.

But, in some parts of Karnataka, autorickshaws and taxis, including Ola and Uber stayed off the roads.

Even though the bandh is unlikely to hit normal life in coastal Karnataka, stones were pelted on a Tirupati-Mangaluru bus in Farangipet.
