Another Kasaragod youth reportedly killed in drone strike in Afghan

Kasaragod, Aug 1: Another Kerala resident, who along with 20 others is suspected to have fled to Afghanistan last year, was killed in a “drone strike,” a senior NIA official said.

He was quoting a message received by the father of the victim.

Mohammad Marwan, a resident of Kasargod in Kerala was among a group of women, men and children who mysteriously disappeared from the south Indian state.

NIA had claimed that the missing persons made their way to the Khorasan province in Afghanistan via Iran to be a part of the IS controlled territory.

Earlier, three other members of the group - Bestin Vincent, Mohammad Hafeezuddin and Murshid Mohammad - were reportedly killed in drone attacks.

On Monday, Marwan’s father recieved a message from Ashfaq Majeed, another accused in Afghanistan that “Marwan has been killed in drone strike and it has been few days.” The message was sent on Telegram.

Indian Muslim body issues fatwa to boycott Chinese goods

Bareilly, Jun 22: The All India Tanzeem Ulama-e-Islam, a religious and social organisation headed by five senior clerics, has issued a fatwa to boycott Chinese products in the country.

The clerics said the community members should stand with the army and government in this hour.

Expressing concern over India-China face-off, National general secretary of All India Tanzeem Ulama-e-Islam, Maulana Shahbuddin Rizvi expressed concern over the India-China face-off and said, "A fatwa has been passed for boycotting Chinese products on a query posted by a Bareilly-based resident. The clerics in the fatwa have condemned the conspiracy of China to encroach upon Indian land and the killing of our brave soldiers."

The panel of five clerics include national president of All India Tanzeem Ulama-e-Islam Mufti Ashfaq Hussain Qadri, Mufti Iqbal Ahmad Misbahi, Mufti Tauqir Ahmad Qadri, Mufti Hashim Raza Khan and Qari Saghir Ahmad Rizvi.

Udupi: Boy held for throwing fake currency notes

Udupi, Apr 17: The city police on Friday caught a boy who created chaos near Aadi Udupi by throwing fake currency notes on road and fled afterwards.

This boy had thrown fake currency notes on the streets of Vadiraja Nagara near Krishna Mutt.

Few localities had collected the notes and reported this to police.

Covid-19: Goonda Act will be invoked against those attacking Corona warriors, warns Minister

Mangaluru, Apr 22: Dakshina Karnataka District in-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary on Wednesday warned of invoking Goonda Act against those who attack doctors, police or ASHA workers who are involved in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

Addressing a function arranged to distribute food kits to journalists on behalf of SCDCC Bank at the Patrika Bhavan on Wednesday, the Minister said the authorities have been instructed to initiate action without any hesitation against anyone who tries to attack Corona warriors.

It has been observed across the state the incidents of attack and assault on ASHA workers, police and civic workers are increasing hence it was felt the need for severe actions against such elements , he added.
