Another Kasaragod youth reportedly killed in drone strike in Afghan

Kasaragod, Aug 1: Another Kerala resident, who along with 20 others is suspected to have fled to Afghanistan last year, was killed in a “drone strike,” a senior NIA official said.

He was quoting a message received by the father of the victim.

Mohammad Marwan, a resident of Kasargod in Kerala was among a group of women, men and children who mysteriously disappeared from the south Indian state.

NIA had claimed that the missing persons made their way to the Khorasan province in Afghanistan via Iran to be a part of the IS controlled territory.

Earlier, three other members of the group - Bestin Vincent, Mohammad Hafeezuddin and Murshid Mohammad - were reportedly killed in drone attacks.

On Monday, Marwan’s father recieved a message from Ashfaq Majeed, another accused in Afghanistan that “Marwan has been killed in drone strike and it has been few days.” The message was sent on Telegram.

Mangaluru, Apr 26: After directions from Karnataka government, migrant labourers are being sent to their native villages in batches by hiring as many as 60 buses.

Divisional Controller of Mangaluru KSRTC Division S N Arun said on Sunday that 100 buses from Mangaluru and Puttur ferried stranded labourers on Saturday. Buses were disinfected before the journey.

Buses also left from Dharmasthala, Bantwal, Puttur and Sullia to different destinations. In adherence to social distancing rules, each bus left with 20 to 22 labourers.

Mangaluru, Jun 23: The wholesale fresh fish dealers have voluntarily decided to suspend sale for 10 days from June 24 in the wake of fresh coronavirus outbreak in the region. 

Convening the collective decision of the traders in a letter, K Ashraf, working president of the association of Mangaluru fisheries harbour fish traders and commission agents, has urged the deputy commissioner to formally impose ban on fish trade in the city for next 10 days to prevent the spread of the covid-19. 

Mr Ashraf stated that decision was taken as many fish traders suffering from symptoms such as cough, cold and fever for last few days and some of the traders have got themselves admitted in hospitals for treatment. 

The letter urged the DC to prevent and ban unauthorized traders selling fish not only in Bander but also in neighbourhoods like Ullal Kotepur, Hoige Bazar, Bengre, Farangipet, near VRL, Kudroli, Kallapu and Maripalla.

Mumbai, Jul 11: Bollywood veteran Amitabh Bachchan announced on Twitter late on Saturday that he tested positive for the novel coronavirus infection.

Taking to Twitter to announce the news, he said, "I have tested CoVID positive... " He added that family and staff had also undergone tests while Bachchan has been shifted to a hospital. 

Bachchan ended his tweet saying, "All that have been in close proximity to me in the last 10 days are requested to please get themselves tested !"

Bachchan, who was last seen in Gulabo Sitabo that released on OTT platforms, will be seen in Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Bhrahmastra.
