Another Kasaragod youth reportedly killed in drone strike in Afghan

Kasaragod, Aug 1: Another Kerala resident, who along with 20 others is suspected to have fled to Afghanistan last year, was killed in a “drone strike,” a senior NIA official said.

He was quoting a message received by the father of the victim.

Mohammad Marwan, a resident of Kasargod in Kerala was among a group of women, men and children who mysteriously disappeared from the south Indian state.

NIA had claimed that the missing persons made their way to the Khorasan province in Afghanistan via Iran to be a part of the IS controlled territory.

Earlier, three other members of the group - Bestin Vincent, Mohammad Hafeezuddin and Murshid Mohammad - were reportedly killed in drone attacks.

On Monday, Marwan’s father recieved a message from Ashfaq Majeed, another accused in Afghanistan that “Marwan has been killed in drone strike and it has been few days.” The message was sent on Telegram.

Mangaluru, Jun 29: Senior IPS officer Vikash Kumar Vikash today took over as the new commissioner of police of Mangaluru city.

He replaced Dr P S Harsha, who was recently transferred and posted as the Deputy Inspector General and Commissioner of Information and Public Relations.

Before coming to Mangaluru as city police chief, Vikash Kumar was the Deputy Inspector General of Police and Commander of Anti Naxal Force.

He had also served as the superintendent of police of Chikkamagaluru district.

Mangaluru, May 10: The Yenepoya Medical College Hospital at Deralakatte here has become the first private hospital in Dakshina Kannada district to get coronavirus (COVID-19) testing approval.

The laboratory at the hospital has received the nod from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) to conduct tests for COVID-19, a release here said.

Dakshina Kannada will now have two centres for coronavirus tests, the first one being the district Wenlock hospital, the designated hospital for Covid-19.

ICMR has approved 33 testing centres in the state of which 21 are government hospitals and 12 are private hospitals.

New Delhi, Mar 26: While the humans are on lockdown and spending time with their families, animals are free and without any fear roaming around on the otherwise busy roads. From Malabar civets to large Indian bisons, animals are enjoying this time.

Indian Forest Officer Susanta Nanda recently shared a video with the caption, "Indian bison( the gaur) goes for a street walk. The largest extant Bovine, is native to South and Southeast Asia. It can be very aggressive. Rare to see in markets."

The 8-second video shows the large animal freely walking in the market area of Chikmagalur district, Karnataka, while the few onlookers on the road get aside and watch the Bison with utmost amazement.

The videos of animals having a gala time on the roads have become common. After the video was posted online, it became a hit. The clip garnered over 3.1k views and over 100 retweets.
