Kasaragod, Feb 2: The sleuths of the National Investigation Agency have arrested another absconding accused in the 2006 Kerala twin blasts from the airport in New Delhi.

P.P. Yoosaf, who had since been absconding, was arrested on Friday from the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport after he arrived from Saudi Arabia, an NIA spokesperson said.

He was produced later in the day before an NIA Special Court in the national capital to obtain a transit remand to take him to Kochi for his production before the Special Court in Ernakulam.

According tothe NIA official, Yoosaf, along with Ashar, who was arrested on January 23, had assisted T. Naseer in preparing the IEDs and had planted them at bus stands in Kozhikode City.

Last week, the NIA had nabbed one more person thought to be involved in the 2006 twin blast case in Kozhikode. Mohammad Ashar who had also arrived in Delhi from Saudi Arabia was arrested by the counter terrorism agency last week on Wednesday.

The twin blasts near the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation and Mofussil bus stands had rocked Kozhikode on March 3, 2006, and left two persons injured and a few properties damaged.

The NIA had taken over the case from the Kerala Police in 2009 and filed the chargesheet against eight accused in August 2010 under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Arms Act and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

The NIA official said thier probe revealed that besides Yoosaf and Ashar, were involved in the conspiracy hatched by prime accused T. Naseer and others to carry out the IED blasts after bail was denied to the accused involved in the Marad communal riots of 2003 in Kozhikode district.

Ashar and Yoosaf had assisted Naseer in preparing the Improvised Explosive Devices and planting them.

NIA is arresting well educated and well settled minority youths just because of doubt whereas actual terrorists from sangh parivar are let free.  This is really a joke.    Live ammunitions + explosives + weaponse were found in the office of bjp in maharashtra + bjp office in kerala but none is arrested.

Bengaluru, Jan 5: Lambasting Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa over the proposal to rename Ramanagara as Nava Bengaluru, former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy on Sunday said that such a move will be an insult to Lord Ram, after whom the district is named.

In a series of tweets, Kumaraswamy accused that renaming the district was a pretext to sell its fertile irrigated land to capitalists. Yediyurappa also wants to settle a score with me by renaming it, he alleged

"If Yediyurappa wishes to develop Ramanagara, he should release the funds allocated in the budget. If you want to develop it further, you will find support from me and my people. But, don't set fire to the districts' culture and identity by changing its name," he tweeted.

Chikkamgaluru, Feb 21: Wazi Noronha, aka, Vojald, the father of Amulya Leona Noronha, who lives in Koppa taluk of Chickmagalur district has said that he was shocked by his daughter’s pro-Pakistan slogans.

“Let her rot in jail. I don’t mind if police break her bones, I don’t support what she said and I will not approach lawyers for her bail. She has committed a grave mistake,” he said.

Amulya, a 19-year-old student activist, was booked for sedition yesterday after she raised ‘Long Live Pakistan’ slogans at a CAA-NRC rally. A visibly embarrassed Asaduddin Owaisi, AIMIM chief and MP tried to snatch the mic away from her and slammed her. Karnataka Police have registered a case under IPC Section 124A (Offence of sedition) against Amulya.

Mr. Wazi, who owns a two-acre areca plantation and runs a poultry farm, said he would not make any attempts to get her bail. “Let the law take its course. I cannot approve of her statement,” he said.

He said he had cautioned his daughter against getting involved in protests. “I told her to complete studies first and later she could fight for poor people. But what she said yesterday is not acceptable. I don’t know what made her so. I hope a probe would bring out who prompted her to make such statements,” he said.

Mr. Wazi also admitted that he was associated with BJP and had worked for saffronite leaders like Shobha Karandlaje and D N Jeevaraj.
