Mangaluru, Feb 29: BJP youth forum spokesperson Nupur Sharma has accused politicians of non-communal parties of supporting anti-nationals for raising voice against charging JNU students with sedition.

At a programme by the Rashtriya Jagriti Samiti at the Town Hall in the city on Monday she said that lecturers and students at the Jawaharlal Nehru University shouted slogans demanding separation of Kashmir. Politicians who support these traitors are also traitors, she said, adding, Afzal Guru was executed with the consent of the President of India.

“Difference of opinion is not sedition. The Congress party charged hundreds of people with sedition for long. Now, when JNU?student leader Kanhaiya Kumar and his followers are accused of sedition, AICC Vice President Rahul Gandhi is opposing it. He has also shied away from a discussion in the Parliament,” she said.

Out of panic, many political parties are opposing the nation and the ruling. Some media who are working for the Congress party, are misleading the entire nation, Nupur said.

She said that the incident at the JNU came to light as there is a new Central government and a new Vice Chancellor at the JNU. “Otherwise, the issue would have been buried. Where was the intolerance by the Congress when there were bomb blasts in the nation,” she questioned.

Asha, wife of soldier Nagesh, who died at Siachen, said her husband has sacrificed his life for the nation, and every person should fight for the nation.

VHP?leader M B?Puranik said that the tendency to disrespect the nation and carry out anti-national activities is increasing in all universities in the country. Brigadier I N Rai asked, if the police cannot arrest anti-national students at JNU, how could people like Dawood Ibrahim and Syed Hafiz be arrested.

A book on the controversy in JNU was released. Financial assistance was given to Asha. A rally preceded the function.

He said the government has taken all precautionary measures to control the spread of the virus in the state.

"Our Additional Chief Secretary has already spoken to IT companies yesterday on behalf of the government regarding guidelines that need to be followed, it is part of it...we will do it in the government also in the days to come," Sudhakar told reporters here.

He was responding to a question about suspending biometric attendance at offices in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.

Asked about suspending biometric attendanceat government offices, he said, "we have planned to do it yesterday."

Sudhakar said so far in Karnataka not even one case has been identified, to that extent we have been taking precautionary measures effectively.

He said from villages to state capital Bengaluru at all levels the health department officials have been activated as part of the precautionary measures.

Also, committees headed by Deputy Commissioners have been formed in all district, he added.

"We have given certain guidelines to people. We have also included private hospitals. We have taken all precautionary measures to stop the virus from entering the state," he added.

In response to a question regarding masks, the Minister clarified that those who have the symptoms of the disease only should use them.

He said, "N95 masks are required only for those who have tested positive, there is not even a single positive case in the state so far...surgical masks that will have three layers can be used by those who have symptoms like cough, cold, fever."

In the state as a precautionary measure 2,500 beds have been kept ready if the situation arises, despite not having a single case.

Bengaluru, May 25: After facing flak from the opposition for skipping quarantine rules to contain COVID-19 spread, Union Minister Sadananda Gowda on Monday said there are certain exemption clauses for those who hold certain responsible posts, adding that he cannot go under quarantine as he has to ensure medical supply in every part of the country.

"Guidelines are applicable to all citizens, but there are certain exemption clauses, for those who hold certain responsible posts," Gowda told media on being asked about allegations by opposition parties that he did not go to required institutional quarantine after domestic air travel from Delhi to Bengaluru.

"I am a Minister and I am heading Pharmaceutical Ministry. If the supply of medicines and other things is not proper then what doctors can do for patients, is it not a failure of government? It' is my responsibility to ensure the supply of medicines to each corner of the country," he said.

Earlier in the day, the BJP MP, who arrived at Bengaluru airport from Delhi and straight away got into his car and drove to his residence. He skipped the institutional quarantine measures as set by the Central government.
